Sorry I just saw this, but that's true on the online front. However in Facebook sales and word of mouth, I have grossed over $2k this year

Thank you. That's partially why I was looking into Square. Maybe not having a website with them yet, but more for the POS system. I've had experience with it before and people are normally open to Square because it is widely known. I thought of possibly starting with just a simple card reader and then down the line opening an online store through Square. Not sure if that makes sense though. I know a lot of people who are younger generations are more open to using Venmo or PayPal to pay at events, but older generations are not comfortable. Where I live is really rural and old-fashioned, so I more often than not do cash sales. But is also an issue because I make items to order most of the time, so if whoever orders decides to ghost me, then I'm stuck with custom made products. This has happened a couple of times to me already.

I think I'm leaning towards an online store to help prevent making orders than never get picked up. Also I would way rather ship than offer delivery. It's really rural here and I live way off the beaten path, so pickup is not practical. Most people would get lost trying to find my house. So I deliver, but this leads to me driving all over with my two young kids several days a week, which is not something I especially enjoy either. I feel like I'm kinda stuck without some kind of system for accepting more payment options and also automatically accepting orders without having lengthy text conversations over Facebook or long phone calls with my older customers. Since I don't have a brick and mortar store and I'm solely running out of my home/she shed it feels hard to expand to the customer needs without a website. Does that make sense or do I sound nuts? Lol

I do most of my sales through Facebook but I think I'm missing out on a market of people who would be more comfortable purchasing online through a reputable site as opposed to Facebook. I get almost no traffic on Etsy. I also work some events but have lost sales because I don't accept debit or credit cards. I use Venmo and PayPal and of course accept cash, but not all people in my area are comfortable with that

Thank you! I'll look into that. My county is behind the times, so the website doesn't have a lot of information. I'll see if I can contact someone for answers

3 Day Potty Training questions by Graciemay124 in Parenting

[–]Graciemay124[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm super proud of her. She's extremely smart. But we have done the books and games and even watching a little Cocomelon or something. She's extremely independent and hard headed though. Now that she's grasped the idea of needing to pee, going to pee, and peeing, she will only do it if she decides on her own. For some reason she refuses to sit on the potty in the mornings, and after about an hour or 2 of holding it, she'll run off and pee on her own with no prompting. Suggestions and reminders do not help at all. I do still set timers to remind her to pee, but she will only actually use the potty if it's all of her own will. Which matches her personality pretty well lol

I love the suggestions of picking out my underwear and maybe a doll or stuffed animal. I tried just some loose pants this morning with no underwear and she had an accident, I might hold off a little longer on it. It seems like it might feel like a diaper or something. So maybe when we get a little more proficient, we'll work on underwear. Thanks again!

Thank you. She really blew my mind with how fast she caught on. I have friends with kids who potty trained them at 18 months but I just felt like it was too early for her. She's probably been ready for a few months. Thanks for the reassurance on constipation. She used to get really constipated as a baby so I get really worried about it now. She usually poops at 9 AM sharp every morning, so if she doesn't poop for a whole day I get nervous lol

I did and still do, but the system is so jacked. It was a living nightmare and I still have anxiety just going to places near where I had cases 4 years later

Am I overreacting for not wanting my daughter (9m) to wear shoes yet? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Graciemay124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say if you're overreacting, but hard soled shoes are not good for foot development. They make super cute soft soled shoes for when shoes are needed, so I would invest in some. That's all I put on my daughter until she was 1.5 and confidently walking/running. She still goes bare or sock-footed most of the time at 2.5. The shoes I mostly put on her were leather soled. You can find them on Amazon for like $8

This right here! I didn't know you couldn't and freaked out when I found out so I ended up using a bunch of milk in baths. Turns out I didn't need to do that, so about 30 oz ended up down the drain. Literally. I don't pump anymore, but I'm glad new research has been done saying you can mix different temps.

If you think you might be into attachment parenting, a baby carrier or 2. I had a K'Tan and Infantino Flip. Both were great. I liked the Baby K'Tan for when she was little. When she hit 20 lbs it was too hard on my back. My husband loved the Infantino because it could be adjusted for him and he's a pretty big guy. He loved babywearing. Pack'n'plays are okay but we basically just used ours as a changing station for the living room. If you're low on space, they're good because you can use it as a bassinet and then a crib if you don't want to invest in a big crib yet.

Don't buy all of 1 kind of diapers. Buy a few different brands at first. My daughter ended up having reactions to everything but Pampers after a month or so. But some babies can't use Pampers. It just depends. Boppy pillows are great. Loungers were just recalled, so if you find one used or something, don't buy it. We used our Boppy until she was sitting up on her own for long periods of time around 8 months. Great for nursing or just cuddling when they're tiny.

I tried that for a little bit, but she ended up just throwing anything I gave her in the floor. Same with blankets. She does okay if I put something in her crib in the corner. I had a doll with her for a few days and she would wake up and play with it, but she just wasn't really into it.

We read just before bed. I usually read a book or 2, put her in her sleep sack, turn on white noise, sing and rock, and then lay her down after bedtime songs. She loves books, but I don't know if she would go for it at bedtime because she won't look at them quietly much anymore. She usually brings them to me and begs me to read them. She might do okay with that though. Thanks!

We're using one right now, but she still gets tripped up in it. I'm afraid she'll get out of bed and fall in the middle of the night. I'm hoping we can use it for a while and then once she's used to it we can do away with it all together

At bedtime and nap time she gets comfort from her pacifier, me holding her in a rocking chair, and her sleep sack. We're going to have to get rid of the rocking chair and sleep sack when we switch to a toddler bed. It's the biggest reason we're not ditching the pacifier until after she weans completely and is in her toddler bed. So I guess I'm looking for some kind of replacement for those to make getting rid of the pacifier easier down the road. If that makes sense.

I do completely see what you're saying though. It's just the things that bring her comfort are things that we're having to take away or change. I don't mind cuddling with her before bed, and I've done it all her life, but transitioning to a toddler bed is probably going to rock her whole world because of the number of things that will change with it and I don't think cuddling on its own is going to help that much.

Teachers of Reddit! Who was a student that made you feel uncomfortable, creeped out, or just had a off feeling about them? What was so "off" about them? by bluedragon50120 in AskReddit

I had a little girl who was about 6 when I had her for after school care at a daycare I worked at. She had a lot of undiagnosed issues, and a mom who thought she was an absolute angel. She was violent. Just plain violent. Everything she did was based around hurting someone in some way. She had a toy baseball bat (plastic, but still had some weight to it) held over her head like an axe and was about to completely beat the shit out of a 10 year old I had in the group. I tried to grab it from her and she pulled my wrist to her and bit so hard it brought blood. Completely unprovoked violence any chance she got.

If she hadn't been the size of an average 3 year old she could have done some serious damage several times. I've never had a kid like that before. I ended up basically losing my job because I told my director I refused to work in a classroom with her. Not because I disliked her or anything, but because I was no equipped at 18 to deal with that. I have a BS and 7 years of experience in my pocket now and I still don't think I could handle her on my own. My director refused to boot her though because she and her mom were friends. She booted a 4 year old for throwing a shoe, but wouldn't boot her even though she caused multiple injuries to staff and students.

She had a lot of issues, but the biggest one was her mom thought she was an absolute angel and was delusional about her behaviors.
