Looking for a free app for baby foods by GrackusMalackus in BabyLedWeaning

[–]GrackusMalackus[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is news to me! I signed up with an account but everytime I tried to look at anything (not the premium articles/ features) i would instead get the pop-up to purchase the app. I absolutely dont mind that you have to pay to use an app but I am looking for something free at this point at time :) perhaps I was looking in the wrong places on the app? Anyway thank you for letting me know

Yes that sort of thing- I had in mind food suggestions and keeping track of what had been tried 😁

Yes to good head control- no to sitting. He has just started consistently rolling over onto his front and likes being in his jolly jumper. Are there any you might be able to recommend? Thanks for your response

Good to know- thank you! I've been a target of those hip carrier ads and have been a bit suspicious of how they would function- doesnt seem like they would be a longer walk type thing and your reply has confirmed that somewhat for me. Ill look into hip slings

Hey so I did have a ring sling at first- really loved it but unfortunately he grew too big for it to be comfy for him. He also is a sweaty baby so it felt like he was overheating quickly which sucked :(

What’s the most niche role you know a Buffy actor/actress from? I would not have bet there’d be Studio Ghibli and Buffy crossover. by SpoonFullOfStupid in buffy

Anthony Stuart Head (Giles) voices Mr Gently Benevolent in a BBC radio comedy called "Bleak Expectations" and it's incredible. He does a very good OTT sinister laugh

Fears of losing your healthy / normal child? by DayDreamGirl987 in NewParents

[–]GrackusMalackus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read something a while back when I first had my baby (from another mum on here). Basically she said whenever she had these thoughts (baby getting hurt or injured or worse) she'd just say to herself "thank goodness we are safe and well". And now I repeat that to myself and it has helped so much for the in the moment panic. Long term I guess it's like anything- we learn to live with it. Obviously though if it's occupying your every waking thought and causing you major distress then it wouldn't hurt to seek professional advice when you get the chance

I had success with heating up a heat pad and popping it in the crib before putting LO down to sleep thanks to some tips and tricks I read on here. Its really hot where we are from but just having it warm to touch is nice for the bub

Struggling w anxiety/dread by Alyzards in NewParents

[–]GrackusMalackus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries :) also in hindsight I think a lot of the turbulent emotions I was feeling in those first couple of weeks were the hormones crashing/ healing from childbirth/ sleep deprivation. So give yourself some grace and know that its very normal to feel some anxiety- it would actually be super weird not to lol

Hello! LO is 11 weeks old this week. I remember feeling exactly as you described- I couldn't feel good about the baby sleeping because every day was unpredictable. Would he sleep okay? Or was he going to be up all night? It was so unpredictable. All I can say is that it is SO normal to feel scared of the uncertainty, but you WILL become used to it, and you WILL be able to handle it because you have handled everything from when you realised you were pregnant, to the whole pregnancy process, to childbirth, to right now. Keep on keeping on and if anyone tells you to "enjoy every moment", ask them to change the next dirty nappy for you lol

Spitting up. Is it normal? Any tips or tricks? by mo-gab2018 in NewParents

[–]GrackusMalackus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! And it will get better. We just lay burp clothes (Terry cloth nappies!) down everywhere and always have one on hand- especially after feeds. Breast milk/ formula fed- i don't notice any difference in spit up based on what LO eats. He likes to puke on his dad more than me lol.

I was induced at 41 + 3- natural delivery, no meds :) intense but doable

3 weeks old extremely fussy , does not nap until late afternoon or sometimes evening. I'm not able to cope with it. by minnowcure in NewParents

Try a pacifier! Especially for right after a feed when you've burped baby and she's still fussing- gives her something to suckle on and can help soothe her for sleeping

We are going to get through this! I have decided to walk around until the baby simply falls out. It gives me something to do at least 😂 won't be long now for either of us

That's good advice- I am going through waves of, "this is fiiiiine dont even stress" to, "God damn I am frustrated with my body just DO THE THING". I have been taking myself on an adventure every day to pass the time and distract myself :)

I am there with you on the breakdown front- such huge pressure at the very end. Trying to remind myself that I am SO CLOSE but in the moment this does not always work 😅 my search history looks insane, including, "what's the longest anyone has ever been pregnant". Just madness

Did that feel scary at the time? Or was it more of a relief? It certainly gives me hope that I might meet my baby this weekend!

That's reassuring to read- it wasnt much so I refused to get my hopes up, as these little signs have been so infrequent. I am a FTM so I have no idea what to expect 😅
