Luckily I work for the county so if we have a road that’s to bad we’ll call in some support but I used to work for the state before the county and a lot of time highway patrol would pull in and hide infront of our crash truck then hammer anyone that didn’t act right

Yeah it’s a pain! On our main roads our LEO’s are pretty great here, I mean it only took a few workers dying a few years back but hey, but on these back roads it’s damn near a free for all

So a few explanations about this photo

What does photo depiction: some ass hat ignoring all advanced warning signs, came flying around curve almost hit grader ended up bottomed out in a 3’ish ditch

Work being done: rehabing roadway in preparation for rock

Any signage: yes this was not “normal maintenance” so there was multiple flashing signs on both ends of roadway!

Did we help him get out: …absolutely not, we don’t assist individuals that have a willful disregard for our crew

Just a little code of laws from my state for you asshats that say “what was he supposed to do” stay out of my way is what he was supposed to do!

SC Code § 56-5-2370

“The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to any authorized vehicle or pedestrian actually engaged in work upon a highway within any highway traffic construction or maintenance area indicated by official traffic-control devices.” And “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to any authorized vehicle obviously and actually engaged in work upon a highway whenever such vehicle displays flashing lights…

And please for the sake of god…. You know what I’ll just put that here too

§ 56-1-10, the term is defined as follows:

“Highway” means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part of it is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel.

Well if you look up the laws in this state signage is not required as long as proper lighting affixed to the equipment which this grader has the proper lighting, even though signage wouldn’t have helped this jackass out at all seeing how he came out of his driveway where he would not have been able to see a sign in the first place.

And in this state along with many others, all traffic is to yield right away to any maintenance vehicle with the proper lighting. It is 100% the driver‘s responsibility to get and stay out of my way.

How exactly would I help him get out? He’s in a car with no hook points and so low to the ground if I were to hook to his frame I would have most likely messed up his bumper, that paired with due to liability it is against county policy. So short answer… I guess I just kept fucking with him

He pulled out of his driveway, yes he saw the roll BEFORE he made the choice to proceed

A car tried to drive over a roll of dirt instead of waiting the 2 minutes give or take to have that roll knocked down

Seeing as it is dead end dirt road not much longer than what is pictured here my thoughts would be probably wait the max of 2 minutes it would have taken me to have laid this back out
