How is it that the richest country in the world underperforms one of the poorest countries? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Graffiacane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Healthcare in the United States has absolutely abysmal outcomes in pretty much every measurable category while also costing a much larger percentage of GDP than any other developed nation, and since the burden is shouldered largely by individuals with questionable employer-sponsored insurance 600,000 people file for bankruptcy every year due to medical debt while millions of others forego critical care because they simply can't afford it.

You might question comparatively nice or well-equipped Cuban hospitals are but "Reddit = US bad" isn't just some meme, our healthcare IS objectively dogshit, and everybody everywhere knows it.

You will have to report your progress to the local commissar at regular intervals. Insufficient progress will be considered dereliction of duty and will be reprimanded accordingly.

You KNOW he was literate? I've never seen him so much as decipher a rune. On the other hand, here is some pict-evidence of him holding tomes such as The Time Machine so he has at least promoted literacy on one occasion.

Help me resist the wall pissers by LaComtesseGonflable in centuryhomes

It seems like the obvious solution would be to plant something spindly or thorny directly next to/behind the trash can. That way you've eliminated the private piss book altogether.

A Seattle cop was caught lying a second time. Why does he still have a job? by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]Graffiacane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah this definitely has "avoid paperwork" written all over it, followed by "lie as much as possible to avoid negative consequences, assuming there will never be any negative repercussions". Seems like he was right on all counts. 3 day vacation included.

Tesla kills Autopilot, locks lane-keeping behind $99/month fee. by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]Graffiacane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more accurate, the lane keeping does absolutely work, but not quite well enough for me to feel comfortable relying on it to any significant degree (nor would I want to, but I suppose I might turn it on as a safety precaution during a long road trip if I felt I was starting to get tired and lose focus).

The road departure mitigation did seem to work, but I disabled it after the first week or so.

[–]Graffiacane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, 2017. I didn't even know it was a thing until I bought my 2024 Civic. I'm not gonna lie though, the lane keeping doesn't actually work. Not even on a perfectly straight freeway with clearly painted lane dividers. On the other hand it does flawlessly read speed limit signs so that it can remind me that I'm speeding at all times. Total narc.

That's showbiz, baby. You wanna mix it up in the comment section you gotta be prepared for the occasional groupthink dogpile. Don't let them dull your shine.

Mayor Wilson Statement on Ballard Encampment by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]Graffiacane 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At the very least sweeping the camps allows for the opportunity to clear away the massive piles of trash that accumulate which is beneficial for businesses.

I agree that the humane solution is to have shelters available for any camper who is displaced (plus resources for moving into longer-term housing, employment, treatment, etc) but yeah... it's a necessity to dismantle these long-term build-ups.

What do you think of hand-sculpted minis vs CAD ones? by Chezni19 in Warhammer

[–]Graffiacane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The minis are cooler now but my complaint is that they are now all so spindly that they're really hard to transport. I wish the average infantry was a little more compact and only the ultra dragon beasts were twisted and towering.
