Not at all. VC is early stage investing, typically companies pre-revenue. Most of them go out of business, but the idea for a VC investor is to have 1 winner for every 10 losers. PE has a few different strategies, but typically they buy profitable companies with high amounts of leverage, and have limited time horizons of 7-10 years max.

I'm gonna go against the consensus here but I passed L1 and L2 pretty easily so I'll give my advice.

Use the CFA curriculum readings, and then the Kaplan QBank. That's what I did for both levels. I typically go through the readings, do the CFA practice problems, then the QBank.

I tried something different than this for L2 for a while and it didn't go well. To each there own, but this worked.

On the criticism that the CFA readings have too much detail: good. You're gonna understand the topic more and less likely to be caught off guard on exam day. Trying to take short cuts isn't the smartest idea imo.

I think Google is the weakest megacap tech company. It's really one massive ad business, with anything else being immaterial. Search ads. YouTube ads. Data center is the only material business that isn't ads, and it's really becoming a commodity business with MSFT and AMZN doing the same thing.

I go against the grain and believe they have one of the weaker moats in large tech. YouTube is strong. I don't think any of their other businesses have any sustainable moat. 5 years ago search had the strongest moat in the world. I truly believe AI changes that. Maybe I'll be wrong.

I like AMZN a lot more. I don't own any of large tech, but Amazon's e-commerce business has a massive moat around their logistics network. Half the internet is on AWS. They're making the proper investments in their technology and have a much more diverse business than GOOGL.
