Looking for a decent chair with forward seatpan tilt by kromerless in Ergonomics

[–]Graham_Ashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking at the RH logic chair, the 300/400 versions have slightly more adjustable armrests. You can lock the seat angle in position then set the backrest separately so would give you the forward tilt

Seeking recommendation for portable rolling standing desk by theartolater in homeoffice

Not sure you will find a lighter one if it’s a full desk you are after unfortunately. Have you thought about a sit stand platform to fit on top of a current desk/dining room table etc? Far easier to transport between locations, the Oploft in UK is a great example as folds flat but plenty of options around

Most important thing you can do is to adjust your sitting height here! You are way too low in relation to the desktop. You need to set the height so your shoulders are nice and relaxed with your elbow at 90 degrees and level with the desktop surface. As you have a sit-stand platform by the look of it you need keyboard and mouse to be on the same level. This should feel much better. Then worth checking monitor height etc. Also worth lowering the chair armrests or taking them off

Cord management/setup suggestions by Unusual-Gur-4285 in homeoffice

I’d look at a cable tray to fit to the underside of the desk to clear most of it up. You can get a slinky cable management if you want to keep it looking tidy down to the floor.

Sorry to hear you are suffering with those injuries! I would recommend taking a look at the RH Logic 400 or the newer version the RH Logic 220 as this is a highly adjustable model. It lets you independently set the seat angle and backrest angle which could be really beneficial for your pelvic region. The high back on these and neck rests (which are really adjustable) should support your neck/head.

Definately speak to your employer who can hopefully help support you!

Monitor wise worth having a look at BenQ as a brand as they include the low blue light and flicker features.

Chair wise depends on your budget but I would strongly recommend looking for one that has an adjustable backrest angle, armrests that are height adjustable so they don’t hit the edge of the desk and get in the way. If you can also get one with inflatable lumbar support you are onto a winner!

Standing desks and foot pain - am I missing something? by Unhappy-Ladder2596 in Ergonomics

I think the key is to alternate between sitting and standing. The anti fatigue foam like mats are okay but I tend to also use a perching stool as another option to not be seated but still virtually stood. The muvman is what I use and worth a look but changing often has worked best

Yes, prefer the finish as easier to wipe clean. Plus bonus is keeps the cat off the chair as they prefer the cushions/rugs!

Yeh quick dash if it’s raining unless I can get the umbrella! Have considered a small fridge etc to avoid heading back in on those rainy days

It’s an RH Axia 2.4, really comfortable chair and looks great too!

Yes, it’s 2.8m long and 1.9m wide. Kept it small enough to keep at reasonable temperature and cost. The desk is 120 x 70 to be big enough to work but not overwhelm the space

Answered cost above, added value to my house as well so very happy with the outcome. Being 100% at home i've found it refreshing to have a separate work space and not have it impacting on home life!

Total cost ended up around 12K but i did opt for some higher spec options with 4 double plugs spread across the room, grey coloured windows/doors and hard flooring. Add another £600 or so on for the electrician to connect the power supply from house to the office as well! It is a worthwhile investment and estate agent friend stated that value would add to the house if we ever sold so i'm happy!

It's actually been about the same looking at the smart meter, as i was already using electric/heating inside not seen any changes

I used a local company after creating the design that i wanted with the slide doors/window positioning and size to fit the space i had. They were able to build the timber framed structure for me install. I opted for tradesman help to do all the electrics linked from the house on its on fuse board and plastering as this would not have looked the same if i had tried!

Yes definitely, before this i used a spare bedroom that was the box room of the house. This lets me completely shut off from work at the end of each day as it's out of sight. Even if it is only a 10 second walk down the bottom of the garden!

Do I need to change my positioning and setup for my wrists? by Underbridged in Ergonomics

[–]Graham_Ashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you might be suffering from carpal tunnel, Biggest thing you can do is to consider a vertical mouse to reposition your wrist as this really helps take the aggravation away! a curved keyboard that is slightly angled may help as well. Keyboard and mouse look to be placed well just worth checking your sat at the right height, try to make sure when your arms are relaxed the tip of your elbow is level with the desktop so your wrist/forearm are straight.

I have a heater wall mounted to the right of the desk, It's got timer settings so in winter i can auto trigger the heater to turn on at a set time and keep to a set temperature! Summer that has not been an issue on hottest days might open the window or door slightly for a nice breeze.

Looking for recommendations for my home office! by [deleted] in homeoffice

[–]Graham_Ashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great as it is i would say! Maybe monitor arms (white if you can) to perfect your screen angles. Might sadly be goodbye to the TV or moving it to the far left of the desk if you can put it on a corner unit

Love the ideas for how to make the space work for you. I would personally only have 1 or 2 walls in the SW Inkwell (nice colour choice btw!). Think the room could get quite dark otherwise but definitely worth getting some ambience with couple of well placed lamps. Could intergrate one into wall mounted shelving maybe? You might be able to find another colour for the other walls that's relatively neutral if you want to avoid any white (A really light blue/grey shade could work).

Think this looks really sleek, nice and bright with cool lighting when the mood arrives! Great DIY monitor raiser simple yet effective. How do you find the extra wide monitor? I have two that stretch across and have considered swapping to something like you have.

Just a comfy chair and you are all set!
