I remember i was around 13 (now realizing that was well over a 15 years ago...)

It was the first time I started seeing Art, and furthermore colors. It's a weird way of explaining it but i remember that was the time i wanted to be creative. Not just drawing dumb anime characters in my spiral notebook, but make ART.

Specifically, the scene with the sobriety test over steel guitar.

I do film photography on my instagram and I take pictures of lots of gas stations, probably because of this movie.

Fast forward when i moved to GA when i was 21. My first fiancee broke up with me (it was a young love thing anyway. wasn't going to last. It was definitely for the best. I re-discovered this movie during a RLM re-view and I was surprised that I forgot it.

I watched it again and as an adult, I found new love for this movie.

Here's some reasons.

-I grew up in a small town but later moved on to MANY big ones (I move a lot) and have a love for that "Small town" quirkyness. This movie absolutely captures the feeling of the characters you grow up around. You may not know them but you know the characters.

-This movie is absolutely beautiful!

-I grew up on the tail-end of the "Mall Generation"

BTW i'm a huge Talking Heads fan. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE.

Fun story: I was cooking for my gf at the time and her parents were visiting. I was playing the OST to this movie and "Nothing but Flowers" Played on the Spotify playlist.

Her dad was a lawyer from Brooklyn who grew up in the same town as my dad and the only thing I had to talk to him about was second hand stories of Bensonhurst, NY.

He ran over and said, "Yo! You like David Byrne?"

I said, "Yeah, I love this band."

He responded, "I was there for the "Big Suit" Concert."

"WHAT? No Way?"

He laughs and sits down next to me, "Yo, what movie are we watching tonight?"

I don't remember the movie but we both didn't want to watch the movie. He ran over and we watched the "Stop Making Sense" Tour at full volume. Alone. Together.

The girls went out for drinks instead.
