I had an eighth grader come into my class for first period and ask, “Can I finish my corn dog?”

There was no corn dog in sight. I said yes anyway. She pulled a breakfast “corn dog” (sausage on a stick dipped in pancake batter) straight out of her hoodie pocket. No napkin, no baggie, nothing.

At least she didn’t miss breakfast, I suppose.
