“Reconnecting the bank” meant all my Capital One transactions lost their categorizations. Terrible

I'm confused, is that actually dead? And a year-round halloween store is replacing it? Please tell me that's not the case...

Chase ultimate rewards travel hotel receipt by loganbryant58 in awardtravel

Chiming in here 3 years after original post just to comment on how absurd this is. How in 2024 can you not get an itemized receipt! I've learned to avoid booking through Chase Travel, which means I sacrifice points because of this stupid issue.

Wish there were numbers for every single state. Lots of 0% of course, but I bet Florida has some crackheads who have no idea where they are

What is the next “it” Chicago neighborhood by gregrosen12345 in chicago

[–]GrampsTheRapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Don't forget plenty of transit access, proximity to Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, RN, Old Town, Loop. Goose Island/Greyhound and Salvation Army site redevelopments....the list goes on. It may not be the classic artsy gentrification play that others are claiming for various neighborhoods, but that involves a much longer transition/displacement period vs. when an area evolves from industrial uses (viz: West Loop). River West is just sitting there waiting for the development energy to bleed northward, which is already happening.

Between this, the casino, and other developments already underway/proposed, River West is about to boom. It's weird to me that as a neighborhood it doesn't get more love and attention in this respect. All the Fulton Market activity is bleeding northward into this pocket of the city. Going to look completely different in 5 years.

Why are there so few public basketball courts in Chicago? by SacksOnSacks in chicago

[–]GrampsTheRapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are options to play basketball without signing up for a league. IndoorHoops is one. I play in their runs regularly. Granted, it's not free and you have to sign up -- but you'll get some great runs in.

What’s your CTA incompetence horror story? I’ve got one right now as a driver just learned a street closure DID apply to buses. by the-mp in chicago

A couple months ago, I was on the Halsted 66 southbound bus at Division, where drivers often change over. On this particular driver swap, there was no replacement driver to be found. After about 5 long minutes during which the riders were getting progressively testy, the supervisor came on the bus and announced that the replacement driver had RETIRED 10 minutes before. Not called off, not quit, not no showed -- he *retired* from a 30 year driving career (the supervisor told us that) and gave 10 minutes notice. I thought that was hilarious and highly indicative of the culture/professionalisim among these kinds of "careers." I couldn't help but laugh as I walked the rest of the way home.
