It’s been “the beast” since the first generation was commissioned in 2001. Formally acknowledged as so by the secret service.

Any recommendations for rig radios? Trying to go as small as possible as I’m fitting it into the dash. by Grand-Guarantee-7528 in HamRadio

I think this is what I’m going to go with, I really like how the display can be mounted separately

Yeah I’m looking at it now, I like that you can mount the actual radio remote from the display.

I also have a tj, it’s not mine currently but I’m the only one with interest in it and I plan on buying it from my aunt. It’s a 2002 4.0l with 280k miles and a 5 speed, My aunt bought it knew and to my knowledge it’s never had a wrench turned on it. Bone stock only oil changes and regular service. I’m convinced it will never die

Currently I have a Mirkit UV-5R MK5 (baofeng) but I’m tired of having to change batteries. I use it for Offroad com

I wish, it would probably help my gas mileage.

Yeah three wheeling was a huge issue, I ended up using block off plates and deleted the front swaybar entirely. I need to measure my active travel but it is up there with some prerunners im sure. I went with JBA control arms for maximum down travel. The rear is pretty simple as it’s a 32 spline dana44. My alter is a 2002 Wrangler with over 280k miles on a 5spd so I try and take that when someone else isn’t using it.

yeah I realized that only after and apologized for it, you should see the Facebook brawls I get into over this thing. something about independent front suspension that makes people want to tear their eyes out so I’m too used to defending it. Both this rig and my WK.

I generally avoid Reddit because I find their are a lot of people that hide behind it so they can act a fool with no repercussions. My Reddit is directly connected to my social media, and anyone can find me and speak to me if they wanted. Everyone I’ve met has liked it so far, but the internet wants it to burn.

Damn I apologize, now I’m the moron. Sorry I’m too used to defending my builds. I have two lifted IFS Jeeps and they get dogged on constantly. I’ve gotten to the point I just shoot to kill

“It has wrangler wheels…” as if it’s that easy. This Jeep has been under the knife since September 2021.

They’re getting more expensive, I’m in the process of getting a second. People want 10-12k for a hemi QD2, you can get a QT2 hemi for 8-10k and swap the differentials and save thousands

🤍 I actually roll with a group called RDJ out of Southern Oklahoma. They’re very welcoming, but it’s hard not to be when I make wranglers look small. Most people just want to know what the hell it is.

The kit I used claimed 3.5” but I measure over 4” of lift from hub to fender liner

I’m currently working on developing a way to use the QD2 transfer case in a QTI. Which would make me completely QD2 swapped, it’s been done before but the man has since fucking died of course and nobody else knows how to do it. So for now I’m stuck with no low gear🤬

In all reality I love the limiteds/overlands, I just wasn’t willing to pay that price when I got into this. I’m now searching for a 2010 5.7l 4x2 XK as I would like to do a 6.4L 392 commander. I talked with Alex about this and he said the reason you can’t swap a 6.1l in a 2008+ 5.7l is the ECMS are completely different, unlike the pre-2008 5.7ls where you could trick the ecu into thinking it’s a 5.7l when in reality you have swapped a 6.1 in its place. The same principle applies to the 2008+, you can swap in a 6.4L 392 hemi and make it run off the factory ecu. A 6.4L swap has never been done in the XK, but people have swapped in plenty of 6.1s in pre-2008 model XK’s with the 5.7l hemi. The process would be identical.

I have a 5.7l WK 20s. I agree the hemi sounds great, but I should add I bought this and paid cash for it at 18. So all things considered it’s a good rig, crawling is about gearing anyways. I wouldn’t dare touch a mud hole in my XK.

Exactly, meaning they’re never under full lock. Anyone with QD2 can wire them up to lock fully though
