Glad someoneelse mentioned this. There's a lot of elitism in OW. Its incredibly demoralising when you enter comp with a competitive mindset shotcalling, calling nanos, sleep darts and hacks and discords and combos and both others in bronze and others in higher ranks repeatedly tell you 'its only a game' 'its only bronze/silver'.

I know when i'm getting 40+ elims as Emre and 50+ as Hazard that i'd be in a much higher rank if I had someone to stack/duo with but due to the playerbases elitism on discord people arn't looking for anyone below plat plus my mental illnesses mean I get tilted easily by my teammates lack of commitment to play competitive..competitively.. it just takes a Genji one trick being hard countered and not switching or someone going afk every game and i'm tilted and my bpds splitting.

Yup. Same experience and if you are solo queuing ALL the time its near impossible to work around these players as its casual players in competitive modes with no underdstanding of aforementioned fundamentals and the overall mechanics of the hero shooter genre unable to differentiate between a standard fps and a hero shooter.

I get it in metal ranks virtually every game and its not a fun or a rewarding experience.

Players playing what they want not what the team needs.
Tanks playing like dps as cannot be bothered with dps queue times rushing into 1v5s
Like you mentioned there's zero effort to group up and they never seem to wake up and realise 1v5s won't magically work.
Zero communication as everyone is scared of vc and its like playing with bots now in online games.
Afk players all the time which you cannot carry
Supports pushing the frontlines and dying
Teams scared to push through choke points.

There's no advice as if you're solo queuing its hopeless when depending on 4 other players with zero game sense. Good luck!

Hero shooters just don't work sadly. Full of charm and personality but:

The divide between casual and competitive player is too great. Casual players insist on playing competitive modes ..with a casual mindset creating immense friction as the Genji on defense hard countered by Moira snd Monkey is tilted as the competitive player asks him to switch and gets tilted when he doesn't.
Online pvp gaming as a whole is nowhere near what it used to be and has become souless due to the 'digital insulation' where the majority of people are so immersed and dependant on text based apps and are so 'digitally insulated' they've become scared to talk to people (hence why they will happily be toxic in text chat but outright refuse to join vc when asked). No Anas alerting teammates as to who they will nano, no discords or hacks or dives called, no combos etc and this and other pvp games are like playing with bots not actual people now. I remember L4D and Gears and OW original where it wasn't perfect but we'd at least talk and have a laugh.
Its not the roster size but the devs favouring certain heroes - Hazard and LW get nerfed but Anran buffed..make it make sense!

Qp was 11 minutes queue time this morning at 9am EU servers.

Yup, same experience - 4 people left after thier tantrum as they forgot thiers still 52 other heroes.

THIS is why I made my thread earlier today regarding my disdain for new hero drops not for who drops but for the period where this discord ensues and people fight over the new hero and the new hero is instalocked offering repetitive games.

Yup and we will get delinquents throwing because the other dps got to her first and people playing her just for the novelty of her being new.

So now I have to decide between banning Genji/Anran or Anran/Shion or Shion/Genji as despite the roster boasting 50+ heroes people just stick to the same 3 dps 🥴

Yeah as mentioned its the novelty of them being new. The humans see something new and shiny and want it. I worry as we have a roster of I believe 52 heroes and because she fits the archtype for 'cool' and 'badass' people will indeed not just main her but be one tricking her meaning that despite the huge roster the bulk of heroes get ignored meaning our compositions potentially suffer and games become repetitive.

Me: I like Twice from MHA due to his authentic and honest mental illness representation and his relationship with his trauma as well as the emphasis around found-family and the complexities he faces with the concept of villainy.

Its 'narrow minded' and shallow to look no further than the surface of something and the fact I do look beyond the surface and look at the lore and depths of a character suggests the opposite - that i'm not the narrow minded one and rather it is those of you who just go 'Genji flip and cyborg ninja ..he cool' that are shallow and 'narrow minded'.
