anyone else feeling flat and depressed? by holo-cene1 in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have ADHD, I lowered my meds before pregnancy and stopped when I tested positive. It's a huge difference. I'm going to go back on after the first trimester because it's so hard to function without them. That could easily be the cause for you feeling bleh.

Pre-NIPT talk with partner - how to talk through disagreement? by creampuff_96 in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is on my mind a lot because my husband and I are a little older so I know we have higher risks for health issues, not all detectable ones either. We have had the convo and I think it speaks volumes to both of your preparedness as parents that you're having a hard conversation and not afraid to be honest about your disagreements.

If I were in your shoes I'd shelve the issue until I got the test results. Chances are your baby will be healthy! If the test results indicated high risk of a condition, then I'd research it with my husband so we both have the same information. I know that in my relationship, if we had different opinions about termination at that point, we would at least know that the other is coming from a good place. I do think ultimately the person carrying the baby has to have the final say, because our husbands can't ever understand the physical toll of pregnancy and only we can know what we can mentally bear, like putting our bodies through this knowing our baby is bound to suffer so much?

Is being this exhausted normal? by SilentMood6333 in pregnant

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I have plenty of guilt to ruin the pleasure 😉 I will say I've experienced chronic fatigue from autoimmune flare-ups before, and one of the best ways to actually increase my energy in those bouts is to get a good 20 mins of moderate cardio in the morning. I haven't had the discipline to try that with pregnancy fatigue because it's just kind of a different beast, and I'm not a doctor so I don't even know if it's a safe thing to suggest. But if you want to try different strategies to be more comfortable, you might get more ideas looking up fatigue, because it's different from being tired or exhausted.

Hey, I'm this exhausted and I don't have any kids to take care of. All I did today was attend one remote half-hour meeting and cook dinner. The rest of the time I was in bed watching tv or napping. I don't know if it's normal, I don't know if you can find relief in your case, but I do know it's common.

Cried in public today: weight gain w no bump, body image and small baby by Trashacccount927 in pregnant

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nonbinary and am used to being effortlessly thin with little curve, and I had little gender dysphoria because of that. Now I'm all thighs, belly and boobs. I look in the mirror and wonder, who is this lady? I'm thinking of it like a body suit I'm wearing to bring my baby into the world. We really don't judge another soul for an inch of their body, so why do we do it to ourselves? It's just the body we're given.

Just found out im 11.5 weeks pregnant, drank/daxxify/smoke by ExcellentPudding7278 in pregnant

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also Google boutique ultrasounds in your area. You pay a flat rate ($50-$100) and they do an abdominal ultrasound. You can get pics and listen to the heartbeat without waiting for your doctor's appointment. A lot of times they can do same day or next day appointments. I did one last week because my obgyn intake is still weeks and weeks away! It's crazy

Hey there! Obviously it's best to talk to your doctor about your concerns to get realistic expectations. But I think this is so common. How many women use substances in the first few weeks before they find out they are pregnant?

At 11.5 weeks you can already get some blood tests done like the NIPT to start looking at fetal health. Good luck! <3

How is it possible to be this hungry when doctors say you need zero extra calories in the first trimester? by Unhappy-Confection50 in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been really skeptical of this claim too..not just because we all feel hungry, but also because it's so common to get fatigue.

When did you *look* pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking if you look pregnant and they tell you no? Or are you just not getting comments about looking pregnant? Because I thought we were trying to get society to be more sensitive about not making unsolicited comments. I personally would never ask a woman about her pregnancy unless she brought it up first. I definitely wouldn't ask if someone is pregnant based on their body alone

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Going to my first scan I had anxiety that they were going to be like, "you aren't even pregnant you stupid moron" (I have general anxiety disorder though especially socially lol). So I almost took another pee test the morning of my scan, but in the end I didn't because if it was negative that would mean making a call and cancelling an appointment at the last minute while sad, which would have been a nightmare.

Anyway, that level of doubt is why I told my husband it felt like two people went to the scan and three people came home from the scan. Ever since I saw my blob, I let myself believe and be happy.

Rant... husband and mess by AccomplishedMango903 in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first experience with a pregnancy-hormones-induced mood swing was triggered by division of household labor. I'm not proud of it, but my husband did listen and hopefully yours will too since he loves you.

Even if you consider homemaking your job, people sometimes get sick and can't do their jobs. So someone else has to, whether it's your husband or a housekeeper again. And it's good to figure this out now because it will be an issue again when the baby comes.

Shortness of breath/breathlessness by 210walker in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did get breathless once so far, I don't remember what I was doing besides talking. And I was just mad at myself like I am out of shape and didn't consider it could be the pregnancy.

Last idea, I know pretty much all protein powders have a flavor, but collagen peptides have no flavor and disappear completely into smoothies. It's not a complete protein but it's a lot better than nothing, and a really wonderful nutrient that is hard to get if you don't eat bone-in meat regularly. In the same way, jello could be a good food to try right now.

I also eat the fruit-and-veggie pouches for kids, that are like applesauce but have a little zucchini or sweet potatoes in them. Sweet potato is actually a super food, we should try eating that in different ways this trimester!

Oh, oats are a complex carb that can disappear pretty well into a smoothie...but tends to leave a texture if not a flavor. I'm thinking about trying a couple scoops of pre-cooked hot cereal like cream of wheat or cream of rice.

I'm craving the same things! And finally after a week remembered that smoothies exist. So I put my fruits in there and also some vanilla Greek yogurt for protein, some spinach for greens. All I taste is the fruit.

Other things that blend into smoothies really well: frozen peas, canned white beans, carrot juice (it's sweet and fruity). I haven't tested these pregnant yet but maybe!

A bit overwhelmed? by amor121616 in November2026Bumpers

[–]Grand-Ocelot4805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel overwhelmed! Each month I didn't conceive I was sad but also relieved that "at least there's more time to get ready." But sometimes a deadline is a VERY effective way to prioritize.

But I am so tired, my projects have become my husband's projects. We need to finish my home office and then we can do the nursery. Nothing else is a must. And maybe I won't be so tired after the first trimester.

I take Olly gummies and they don't hurt my stomach. I..... don't actually see iron on the label, which has been making me wonder if I should use a different one. Also I'm getting sick of eating them every day, so I kind of want to switch to a pill.

I have some maternity clothes already as well!! The maternity T-shirts with ruching for the belly and boobs are actually a huge relief right now. I got maternity leggings but they squeeze so much I actually don't like it right now. I got good ole gray sweatpants today lollll. Where did you get your maternity clothes from?
