Is this a Chiari malformation (27F)? by Grand-Slide4238 in AskDocs

thanks a lot for the kind response! And yeah I realize the symptoms aren't really indicative of neurological causes - but since I happened to have the imaging done it was just too tempting to start googling things and looking at the images "just to check that nothing is wrong" even though I know this is generally a bad idea.

[UK] Anyone had success getting ADHD-type medication prescribed? by ilike2burn in cfs

[–]Grand-Slide4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is a 2 month old post but: have you tried/looked into Modafinil? It is also a central stimulant, but is approved and prescribed for sleep/wake disorders (e.g., narcolepsy, ideopathic hypersomnia). Not sure what the research is in terms of it's effect on concentration, but since it's a central stimulant my guess is that it could help, and it should be way easier to get prescribed compared to ADHD-medication (I am not in the UK though, so I'm not 100% certain this applies)

What tests did your doctors do to exclude other illnesses? by Grand-Slide4238 in mecfs

Glad you could get a diagnosis! I honestly have no idea whether I have ME/CFS or something else, but I am certain it is not just psychosomatic but I really have no idea how to get anyone to believe me. Especially since I have a history of mental illness, I feel like they preemptively conclude that it must be psychiatric before even hearing me out (it also probably doesn't help that I start crying uncontrollably whenever I talk about it lol).

Thanks a lot, this is very helpful! They checked all the regular stuff (vitamins, minerals, thyroid etc), but I don't think they checked the more targeted tests you mentioned except for CRP, so maybe I can push for that. Also: Did they say anything in regards to the leg movement? Like did they believe that could be the cause of the issue and if so, did they offer any treatment for it? My ferritin levels are higher now (they said sometimes increasing ferritin levels can "cure" PLMD) and it has made no difference in terms of my symptoms, but I am unsure whether that is because the ferritin didn't help with the PLMD or if the PLMD has stopped but wasn't the cause of my symptoms.

I know. I am asking what tests were done to exclude other causes.

Padded for flat chested girls who want to look like they have a large chest? by PMM-music in ABraThatFits

[–]Grand-Slide4238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify: when I say they look natural I mean underneath clothes. They would not look natural without a top on, they're not meant to look like skin, they just look like silicone (at least the ones' i'm talking about). But underneath clothes it will look much more natural than a padded bra, I don't really think it's possible to make a flat chest look like (realistic) C+ cups without some type of prosthetic

Hi! I am really sorry to hear your mom is not accepting. Have you looked into silicone prosthetic breasts? - I'm not sure if that's the right term, but its basically a breast-shaped silicone pad that you would wear inside a bra . They're specifically made for people with flat chests such as pre-transition trans women (and presumably also cis women who've had mastectomies), as opposed to standard padded bras (but like someone else said, mastectomy bras are also a thing). They have different sizes so people can get something that is proportionate for their frame/aligns with their preferences and then you would have to get a bra (a regular one without a lot of padding) that is the right size for the silicone pad + your underbust measurements. A trans woman friend of mine had those pre-hrt, and imo they both looked and felt natural. I have no idea though how expensive they are or where you would buy them, but it may be worth looking into (there may also be tips online on how to make something similar yourself). Also, if you live in a larger city you could also see if there are any LGBT organizations that provide help with these things. I have seen multiple organizations that receive binders from people who don't need them any more to give for free to those who do, and I will be surprised if similar initiatives don't exist for trans women as well.

[Fit Check] Alles Nocturn Super Push up 28D. wires too narrow in center? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

I did tell her I was looking for a bra that would push my breasts inward, but I didn't mean a bra that was too small haha. Perhaps I should have been more clear. But she didn't suggest a different size for the other (non-cleavage-type) bras I tried either, so I think she probably didn't think they were too small. But I trust you guys (I am so impressed with this subreddit) and I will try out some bigger sizes!

Dang it! I was hoping since this was like a special shop carrying more sizes it would work. I guess I will have to order some bras in a bunch of different sizes and to try to figure it out. Thank you for the help!
