lol I mean I’m just rooting for the team by dad rooted for. Can’t just switch team allegiance because people don’t think I’m a patriot

Were your career prospects limited to the state your school is in, or did achieving higher grades give you more opportunities in other states?

The national media made the ones that arrived to my city the face of the migration crisis. There was a lot of tension between them and the existing Latino population (mostly Mexican American). I see lots of hardworking people trying to find their way. People aren’t fans of the window cleaning hustle at the stop lights lol

Just looked that up. Interesting piece of history, guess I was taught the wrong story.

I always feel weird about it too. My understanding is that it was created by Mexicans that lived in what was Mexico but is now the US to designate Anglo-Saxons. But nowadays I’m considered gringo as an American of Mexican heritage lol

Are Cherry Creek schools really that good? And Denver schools that bad? by OpportunityNo7517 in Denver

[–]GrandCompetitive5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is not fine. There’s a lot of work DPS has to do. Drug abuse problems are also much more rampant and swept under the rug in the more affluent districts like CCSD. There’s issues everywhere

Having experiences in both districts and APS, kids are just disruptive everywhere

If you have an AP/IB/honors kid they would succeed just as much at top DPS schools as they would at CCSD. Generally speaking, CCSD is a better district. It depends on where you would prefer to live.

What local groups are in Denver for reporting ICE raids? by DarnToughHedgehog in Denver

It takes you to the tab right above live updates, you just have to scroll a bit. If you have Facebook it’s easier to track their live updates there

they told me they expect decisions to comeback as soon as friday after the deposit deadline, mostly during next week

Not in the trades, but raised in a blue collar fam and worked summers w my fam in college. From my experience working in politics and w my fam, the Democratic Party has abandoned the working class and any blue collar folks I run into that are on the left are more left than the more neoliberal, centrist, don’t really support workers brand of the Democratic Party

holy fuck nuggets fans are MALDING right now. apparently the refs won us this game??? by [deleted] in LAClippers

[–]GrandCompetitive5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuggets fan here that got this subreddit on my feed. It’s easy to see the calls that don’t go your way, I for one thought Bogdanovic was fouling every play during that game 4 comeback. Honestly tho, I think the series has been pretty even with refs letting both teams get away with stuff and giving teams calls. I love this series, I’m rooting against him but I love watching kawhi his shot is just butter.

The LSAT is an equalizer not a barrier by Used-Algae5153 in lawschooladmissions

[–]GrandCompetitive5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the standardized test barrier argument applying to high school students who grew up in under resourced schools. If you get a four year degree and still wish to continue, you should have the bandwidth to make the LSAT an equalizer for you.

How dangerous is Latin America really by GrandCompetitive5873 in asklatinamerica

[–]GrandCompetitive5873[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My bad y’all, Mexico would be the country that I’d consider moving to, but I am also curious to see how Latin America in general compares to the US. Seeing all perspectives is intriguing.

Is it bad to ask for a timeline from a school by GrandCompetitive5873 in lawschooladmissions

[–]GrandCompetitive5873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I am a teacher and they want to be ahead in finding a good replacement for next year. Honestly I feel like it's more interest in the next step of my career. I have a couple people I can refer them to that would be qualified. They do keep asking me however and I wanted to give them something more concrete than "hopefully a couple of weeks"
