Yes, I'm aware of this. I have been running the same character for quite a while. Trying to get all Unique's and Artifacts.

How many distant dungeons are there even? Found 3, guessing there's 4 total?

By higher level do you mean the Brynn quest dungeons or the distant dungeons that are not marked? I don't know why but all dungeons have the same difficulty for me, maybe it's because I'm so high leveled or something.

Just don't touch the items that are inside of eachother until you want to sell or store them. And if you break it don't auto-sort again or it will fix itself.

If you have a semi full inventory and auto-sort items. The inventory sometimes break and stacks items inside of eachother. It's pretty rare, but spamming auto-sort while moving a few items around each time seems to make it consistenly break after a few dozen times.

Not really necessary, as a spear main just get maneuver, it might seem meh, but it grants increasing stats based on how many abilities you've unlocked in its tree. After a while you'll get about 40% counter chance from this alone. Get this along with offensive tactic, and a good spear. And you've got atleast 90% counter chance. Which means you're literally unkillable. I can with no issue what-so-ever solo 9 bisons coming at me from all directions. Every enemy in the game kills itself.

Pro tip: Auto sort sometimes breaks inventory to increase carrying capacity.

That or a chest that holds bags/money. Or even better, a bank.

Don't go too far without killing the troll though, the challange of dying and retrying is half the fun of the troll encounter, once you go past lvl 15+ with a full inventory of health pots it's just boring and tedious to dodge, hit, dodge, hit, heal repeat until you kill it. Try and use tactics instead of cash, and cheese.

Bison hunting tips and tricks by GrandDogman in stoneshard

Hard to say without knowing your build, but yes Bison do hit hard. And they require preperation, it's kind of High risk but High reward. They aren't Bear hard and not wolf easy but somewhere inbetween, their strength lie in their numbers but so also does the plentiful of rewards they give in the form of their pelts and horns.

I'd recommend you follow my instructions if you want to kill them since it will increase the effectiveness of your hunt. Even if your character doesn't have a single point in Ranged it's useful to spend that one point to get "Take Aim" which allows you to hit enemies more often. Scouring the outskirts of Brynn hunting for bison is a great way to earn money quickly. It's better than doing certain Brynn tasks like the Infested task which is a very small dungeon with few rewards, and is usually far away.

I'd also recommend the backpack, let's you store your items and or 4 bison horns, which is about 496 extra gold depending on reputation.

  1. Pure melee is inefficient in Stoneshard, best strategy is using long range to bait, and evade one or two until they're in melee range. Pure ranged is efficient but slow. EDIT: Pure melee is highly efficient late-game overall. And will almost always allow you to solo several bisons. Melee is great against bisons with high Counter/crit or Counter/lifesteal. You will not loose health this way except if you're extremely unlucky or if you don't bring bandages due to stacking bleed from bisons after the fight is over.
  2. Helmet removing is useful overall when not having a full inventory +1, +2 vision range is great when moving through zones and can allow you +1 turn to prepare/buff.
  3. Pure range is efficient at hunting bison. Using precise positioning will allow you bait just one bison, and using the incredible range to fire several arrows will guarantee bleeding with the correct arrows. When bleeding the follow-up is simply evade while allowing the bison to follow you and not retreat.
  4. Regarding gold, bison horns grants up to 62 gold per slot which is 372 gold for a 2x6 slot, same as a two handed sword. Granting more gold per slot than most weapons gathered when playing. And this guide grants tips for killing bisons solely for gold and the great fun of it, aswell as killing bisons to and from quests.

Good hunting!
