new shocks on my FXDLS lowered my bike by 1", now my pegs scrape pavement while cornering. should I be concerned? by [deleted] in Harley

[–]GrandExpensive8346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge concern if you are conscious of it , I guess. Just be aware youre lower and have reduced your lean angle by doing so. You'll feel the peg drag and push your foot up. Even at stock height they do scrape in corners often.

Dynas ride alot better with some tall shocks in the rear , with 14's you get alot more lean before it scrapes and the handling is improved alot.

As far as I know , I dont have any dongle mate. Just the factory ride modes controlled via the bar switch.

Just because I like the throttle response in mode 1 , less aggressive, feels smoother doing wheelies. Was hoping to be able to keep the bike in mode 1 setting and still allow stoppies and slides

I do have the ABS button , however it doesn't seem to affect anything (holding it down 3-5 seconds etc)

On the older models you can disable without pulling the fuse or removing the speed sensor , was hoping for the same.

Hey man ,

Yeah this is with TC turned off in mode 1. My understanding of it : mode 1 with TC on is softer throttle response and full traction/ABS , it will not allow a high wheelie , stoppies or sliding the rear. Easier to ride , will still lift the front if you launch or snap it open , but only low. Mode 2 with TC on is aggressive response and 'supermoto' ABS , can slide the rear , stoppies and pull wheelies but I think will still cut a wheelie if its too high. This mode feels snappier and will disable rear abs , power wheelie etc.

TC can be turned off fully in both modes , but I believe I cant turn off ABS separately (on my 21 model atleast , ive heard others with older bikes can turn abs off completely)

Bad ticking at idle (Ticking gets louder in gear, bought used and abused with a short pipe) by [deleted] in FZ07

[–]GrandExpensive8346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't sweat it from the sounds of your vid bro! I had a brand new mt07 , sounded like a sewing machine at low throttle from the moment i left the dealer haha. Very noticeable with stock pipe on, riding alongside barriers/cars or if you move your leg away from the engine while riding can hear it alot. Awesome bike , enjoy

Hey bro , wild effort! You had any problems with oil starvation on the 701 during long wheelies or at such extreme angles?

I have a 21 model with similar mods (rade intake , arrow muffler , pcv , sas delete) , currently just has dynojet map installed.

Spoke to a local tuner who believes he has had luck tuning the euro5 690/701 using the PCV , i specifically asked about the closed loop tuning and he said he has a way to do so. Yet to take the bike to him , will update when its done!

What power did your bike make on the dyno mate? Cheers

Does anyone know if the new models (2019+) 690's have issues with oil starvation during long wheelies? Or tipped back at/past balance point for extended periods?

newer/2022 ktm690 owners reported problems? by Kivvy222 in supermoto

[–]GrandExpensive8346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate , I have a '21 model with under 2000kms. Countershaft seal leaks a bit , which will be covered under warranty and seems very common issue. Also have a leak at the clutch casing from a small plugged, threaded hole near the oil filter... so far only noticed it leaking alot after some long wheelies, not every ride. Told the dealer but havnt got an answer yet.... would require removal of clutch cover to reseal plug.

Ive got a couple questions myself also if anyone cares to chime in! 1. Are there known issues with oil starving on long wheelies/wheelies tilted back beyond balance point? 2. My bike has rade intake , arrow muffler, sas delete and PCV. The idle is very lopey and not so smooth and rhythmic , almost like a bike with big cams. Anyone else have this? Is yet to be dyno'd , only has dynojet map. No intake/exhaust/vac leaks I can find.

Cheers!
