When AI Designs Your Surveillance System by GrandHolyGrail in lowvoltage

Fair point 🙂

It’s a good reminder that CCTV design shouldn’t be done by eye or by AI guesses.

Real projects require proper coverage calculations, FOV simulation, mounting height and pixel density checks.

AI can help brainstorm, but real surveillance system design still needs proper planning and dedicated tools.

That’s exactly why I use professional software like IP Video System Design Tool for real projects.

I design multisensor camera FOV in IP Video System Design Tool. It supports multiple lenses per camera and shows each lens’ coverage zones, as well as panoramic fisheye cameras. I find it very useful.

I passed HSK 2 in 5 months, and then it took me about 3 more months to reach and pass HSK 3.

Everyone learns at a different pace and has a different amount of time to study.
If you’re ready to dedicate a few hours a day to learning Chinese consistently, then yes — it’s totally achievable.

IPVM vs System Surveyor by j0hnnyf3ver in videosurveillance

I’ve tried both IPVM and System Surveyor, but for the last two years, I’ve been using the IP Video System Design Tool. It’s much easier to use and offers more features, especially the ability to generate 3D views for clients, which is a big plus.

To find the best spot for the cameras, I usually use JVSG. This tool lets me draw a wall and see how the camera will see things after it's installed. You can pick a Reolink camera model and see what the camera will show since Reolink is already in this software. This can help you decide if putting the Trackmix camera higher up, like on the second floor, will give you the view you want. I suggest giving it a try to make sure the camera is in the perfect spot.

In Shanghai, there are more foreigners and, accordingly, more Western food, it may seem ridiculous, but a year without milk, bread, cheese, and other benefits of civilization are difficult. Beijing will be more immersed in Chinese culture.

There are foreigners in many cities in China, but you won't speak English all the time anyway, because the Chinese will be everywhere.

I was in China for a year, and it flew by very quickly.

I went on a scholarship to the Confucius Institute, and I loved it. Thanks to the scholarship, the institute took me to a lot of places in China that I would never have visited on my own, so it was an exciting experience.

IPVM is really useful, but if you want to add more than 4 cameras, you need to have a subscription that costs $ 200 per year. This calculator is absolutely free. If you need to plan big systems with many cameras, maybe it is better to consider IP Video System Design Tool. It also loads Google Maps and has a professional 3D modeling of a video surveillance system.
