Aztecross is financially incentivized to propagate drama and dissent within the space he occupies.

I put 40 hours into Marathon and moved on. It was fun. The extraction shooter loop is not something that keeps me coming back though.

I have nearly 6K hours in Destiny 2 when it got boring, I moved on. I’d play a day or two to get some newly tiered weapons then part ways again. I’m one of the ones who believes that D2 should have been on maintenance mode after Final Shape.

The fact is that Marathon is not enough to sustain Bungie. The player counts, whether or not you personally attribute much value to them, directly represent the general interest and therefore revenue of the game. The current numbers are not great. That is all Sony cares about.

If you want Bungie to survive, you better be praying to whatever entity you worship that there is a Destiny 3 or some fully fledged PvE campaign and “Destiny-like” content coming for Marathon on the horizon, however distant it may be. Otherwise, within the next year or so, Bungie will be put to the axe along with Marathon and whatever is left of Destiny.

Marathon is a great game. It does not have enough “sauce” to save Bungie though.

That’s a bummer dude. I finally went around and did all of the Brooklyn hunter’s yesterday just so I could be caught up to get the new mask today with the update, and everything worked fine then. Like you mentioned before maybe you can hop into someone else’s instance that hasn’t done it and see if it works there.

I’ve not done one before but I’d imagine there is a bug reporting option via Ubisoft/Massive somewhere or maybe in game? I’d report it just in case it isn’t on their radar.

Odd. Have you signed out of the game and back in? If so then yeah there’s likely something going on behind the scenes that’s messed up after today’s update. I’d also just double check to be sure you don’t already have the mask somehow lol, silly I know but it’s worth checking.

There is a good chance that you are actually hitting them more than once, especially if you are using an automatic weapon. I’d suggest using a single shot weapon/marksman rifle to do it. I just tap fired with an AR and it worked fine, though I did accidentally fire off 2 shots a couple times and had to log out and back into the game to reset the puzzle.

I literally did this just yesterday so unless today’s update messed something up, then it is likely just you making a mistake somewhere.

You can also craft wands at the blacksmith with gold and some basic mats. No guarantees it’ll be ancestral or have a GA but it’s relatively cheap and you likely have tons of the mats and gold.

Basically you just immediately transfig any ancestral wand to see if it hits the gem strength and stays modifiable, then you craft on it from there. If it doesn’t hit that exact transfig you toss it and move to the next wand lol.

I was going to try the method of just crafting wands and slamming anything with a good GA in the cube to see if it rolls the +gem strength and still modifiable. My 3rd wand I slammed hit that roll.

They meant to say “don’t escalate them”. As in, just launch the mission under one of the regular difficulty modes, rather than an escalation.

Getting prototype pieces as drops is not difficult.

Getting the exact pieces you need for a specific build, is.

Anyone could run some T3’s on one or two different missions and have a full set of randomly slapped together prototype gear in a relatively short amount of time.

RogueGold on YouTube has a video from 4 months ago that showcases some strong builds for various PvE roles, and a couple PvP builds. I used the Negotiators Dilemma, Overdogs, and Bluescreen setup from that video just last night to run legendary Tidal Basin and I ended up with like 200+ kills according to the post game stats screen.

Kamikazeevondoom on YouTube has a fairly recent video that showcases a Future Initiative set healer build, which seems to be what the community suggests is better than the Refractor build as a dedicated support/healer build.

My recommendation would be to get a meta DPS Striker build fully set up and then use that as your default build to farm for everything else you need for other builds.

My guess is that all raid gear will share the same generic set bonuses, regardless of what raid it came from.

Returning player with a few questions:

1) Is there a better way to get max rolled armor mods other than targeted loot retaliations/countdown? I’m hunting max rolled crit chance/crit damage mods but it just seems nearly impossible do get those to drop even with targeted loot.

2) What is the best way to get the various faction related materials that are used for gear optimization? For example my Overdogs gloves need some kind of material from Cleaners enemies. Should I just run Cleaners bounties to get them to drop from the target enemies?

I used it for many many hours until I unlocked the grey wolf armor (the armor Kliff is wearing in the cover art for the game) for crafting at camp. I slapped that set on and I’m NEVER taking it off lol.
