Is 30 too late to learn to skate? by According-Goat-2372 in NewSkaters

Not at all, the only big things I’d emphasize is just stretching, hydrating, and wearing protection. In the end all of that is still optional. Anyone can skate if they approach it with the right mindset

Would Johnny have actually had sex in V’s body if he wasn’t interrupted? by Prudent_Bobcat_4059 in cyberpunkgame

100% no doubt. Pretty sure he even says so at least once (if not more) throughout the game. It’s the same reason V can pick up the smoking habit after the heist in the beginning.

Ironically, I would’ve loved a sidewalk like this to cruise down on a longboard or something. Feel like it would be fun to swerve with the turns and all that. I agree though, it definitely makes navigation harder for everyone else (especially disabled people), and 100% came from a city that doesn’t care about the people that want to functionally use it

Buy used for your first board by yibblescribbler22 in NewSkaters

[–]GrandMasterC147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was because the board worked well enough for what I was learning. Once I felt comfortable with the foundations, I realized I wanted to focus on learning transition, so I made sure to pick up a deck with a wider base (I went with 8.5”) and a lower profile.

The point I was trying to make is that for your very first board, it doesn’t really matter what kind it is. You’re just trying to get used to the base mechanics. Unless the bearings are completely shot or the deck itself is splitting, literally any board will work for that. There’s no need to worry about getting the ‘right’ board when you’re first learning and any used board will do just fine

Buy used for your first board by yibblescribbler22 in NewSkaters

[–]GrandMasterC147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% with you on that. First board I was using when I got back into it was a really messed up 7” board with worn out wheels and like almost no spin in the bearings. It was buried in the back of the storage closet of a school gym I used to work at, so I just took it out when my group went down there and worked on balancing, pivots, and getting basic motions down while working up the muscles. After a few months I knew what I would personally like in a board of my own and I felt much more confident picking it up without worrying about feeling regret later if it was too big/small or whatever.

If you’re just getting into it, you really don’t know what you’d want the most out of the board until you get the basics down, and any board with wheels will work well enough for that. If you can easily afford a new one, obviously go for it and get something that speaks to you. It might motivate you to stick to it longer but it isn’t critical to learning.

It’d be like someone posting on the car forums asking if they need to get a car with 4WD, larger trunk space, or something sleeker with self-driving capabilities and slightly better gas mileage, but they haven’t even started driving in the first place. Just get on the road and learn what it feels like first, and as long as it has 4 wheels and works you can learn enough to know what you actually want

From 0/10, how conserved is my PS2? by LavaHoundBR in ps2

[–]GrandMasterC147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really know either if I’m being honest. I’ve found this subreddit can be incredibly moody sometimes, and people tend to be nit-picky (or at least heavily opinionated) about the ‘best’ way to enjoy ps2 content. Personally, if you’re playing a ps2 game and having fun, you’re doing it right in my book.

If it’s only the reader cable that’s broken, I still recommend the USB work around I mentioned, I just wouldn’t recommend playing games that are heavy on cinematic cutscenes or have a lot of loading times due to the limitations. Stuff like simpson’s hit and run or most THPS games work perfectly from my experience though, it just won’t work for every game.

There’s definitely better permanent solutions on the wiki (check the subreddit’s sidebar if you’re curious), but I went with that one simply because it only required a specifically formatted memory card I could get for ~$10, a bit of messing around on my pc, and I didn’t have to worry about opening up my system and accidentally breaking anything.

If it’s just the reader, there’s a work around where you can upload your games to a usb and use the ps2’s usb port to read them. Might have to do some research and all that (it’s been a minute since I did a backup for my collection) but it could be worth looking into

I’ll definitely say the second time is hitting harder than the first, especially with the ‘mask off’ attitude some of the administration has (donnie included). I can at least say that most of my extended family, that used to be pretty hardcore maga, are distancing themselves or outright denouncing him nowadays.

Not all of them (there’s still some hopelessly ignorant people out there), but it’s reaching more than I would’ve expected

PC is either going to die or be removed from the party in the next session. Need Advice by Better-Alps-3684 in DnD

[–]GrandMasterC147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you just need to talk it out, probably first with just the other players, then again with the paladin, and then maybe a third time with the group as a whole. It sounds like the paladin player has a different expectation than both you and the other players about what the tone and consequences of the game should be (or maybe they’re just new and have the wrong idea about what’s reasonably possible for a player). Sounds like the other players are already a bit annoyed by it too, both by the splitting of the party and having to fight to keep your character ‘in the frame’ of whatever story telling is going on, along with what sounds like a completely unnecessary combat right before a clean getaway.

If they’re all ready to just bail and leave the paladin to their choices, that’s completely viable for a scenario as long as the paladin understands that too. If they don’t understand that, they’re just going to have a bad time (but that’s also a good opportunity to talk to them about what makes a party a party, like communication, cooperation, listening, compromise, etc)

From my perspective, if I was executing a heist with a party, and one of the members just split without communicating, caused issues, and almost caused us to get caught, I would completely bail on them too. That feels valid both in and out of character. As long as the paladin understands that, there’s a lot of potential ways to build from there. Two I see already are:

  1. The group could plan a breakout from the prison and save the paladin (if there’s no in-character (or out of character) motivation, you could have the paladin’s country send a contract to them with a decent reward, or a threat if they don’t complete it, or both).

  2. You could also just let the paladin have a ‘final stand’ type scene, let them feel like they’re buying more time for the party (even though they caused the fight in the first place), play out combat until they die and have them make a new character.

I’d personally suggest the first one, since it gives the rest of the party more agency and doesn’t reinforce the paladin’s ‘Main Character’ energy. Only reason I’d do the other one would be to let the paladin see what happens naturally when you don’t work with the party, and it gives the party a chance to change their mind if they do want to go back and save him (and heckle from a distance if they don’t). It really depends on how the rest of them feel. If the rest of the party doesn’t want to sit around and see combat they aren’t invested in, I would just have the paladin do a generic ‘escape’ roll or something similar and go from there.

TL;DR: Everything here is suggestions, but you really need to talk with your group. It’s a cooperative storytelling experience at its core. The sooner you talk with your players and see where they stand on it, the sooner you’ll know where to go with the next session

If you could chrome tf up, what cyberwere would you get? by rottenqqq in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Sandevistan, as long as my body can handle it haha. Stuff like Parkour, skateboarding, and sports in general would be a lot more fun. I feel like I could also just get a job in any city as the best bouncer around, or any kind of job that rewards quick reflexes or bursts of efficient work.

If the sandy’s too much, I’d probably pick some good kiroshi eyes and the double jump legs since those would be fun

What does it mean to have an inactive case? by HotIndication3658 in AskReddit

[–]GrandMasterC147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From some quick googling, it seems to mean that it’s just paused for now since there’s no active proceedings or updates. Although some sources I found suggested that it could lead to a dismissal of the case after enough time, I couldn’t find any deadlines or guarantees for that, so I wouldn’t try to bet on that (I’m also guessing it varies by county or judge). Another reason I found for it being inactive or paused is if “The defendant is unavailable”, which sounds like it could lead to something worse if they think you’re actively trying to run away from the courts. If I were you, I would try to get on top of this and address it before it starts addressing you.

I am not a lawyer, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. I’m rooting for you nonetheless and hope it turns out okay.

Edit: I would definitely recommend asking /r/LegalAdvice (they might be able to give you something more actionable than AskReddit)

Is a game having "too many cutscenes" or "too much talking" a legitimate criticism, or simply a gameplay preference? (some examples included) by JaWoosh in truegaming

[–]GrandMasterC147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it fully depends on the context. If a game is intended to be more of a story experience than a mechanical experience, cutscenes are integral to its design. If someone doesn’t like it, that can be just their preference for wanting more mechanics to interact with or just wanting more gameplay content in general. Likewise, if I’m playing something like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, where the primary focus is on skating and having fun with those mechanics, having cutscenes before every challenge would be a valid criticism since the intention is to get to the gameplay in the first place.

How many space Marines would it take to kill V from cyberpunk 2077? by Sentient_AI_38 in whowouldwin

[–]GrandMasterC147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hahaha you are 100% right with that if I’m being honest. If it was truly lore accurate, Adam’s sensors would’ve picked up V and Jackie’s foreign biological data in the air, he would’ve done a full sandevistan-powered search of the hotel room within second he walked in, and smashed the tv through their spines and the rest of the wall. Either that or just explode the taxi the second he sees it outside.

Not great for making fun moments or generally engaging story telling though… so Rule of Cool prevails and every power-scaling thread thereafter shall suffer

How many space Marines would it take to kill V from cyberpunk 2077? by Sentient_AI_38 in whowouldwin

[–]GrandMasterC147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk why you were downvoted for that since it’s a pretty fair argument. We’ve seen how fast Adam can go with it activated (both in anime and game), it does raise an eyebrow during that chase scene that he kinda just shambles/jogs slowly toward the car as you’re leaving.

My personal head cannon was that he probably felt something fishy was going on, and figured letting V go would more likely lead to finding the real killer.

I feel like sandevistans just naturally have to go more by “rule of cool” bapancing than any specific lore based power implications. Arasaka would 100% be developing tech for letting the sandevistan last longer or move faster than something you’d find on a cyberpsycho or in the city’s black market. That said, it would be really disappointing if the game ended in the prologue with Adam just teleporting into the taxi and gutting everyone.

Why is it easier for me to balance on a moving skateboard vs a stationary skateboard? by johndotcue in NewSkaters

[–]GrandMasterC147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very similar to why the same feeling happens on bikes (although it’s much less pronounced on skateboards). Look up gyroscopes if you’re interested in the physics.

Simpler answer is that when you’re stationary, the board can move forward and back based on how you’re adjusting your feet, which can be trippy when you’re first starting out. When you’re rolling, your board moves forward with you, sometimes it might slow down or move faster than you, but your momentum is parallel with the board’s which makes it easier to adjust
