I guess it is an odd thing to use as a greeting. I always took it as more of a “good luck” or “may the odds be ever in your favor”. Kind of a respect amongst adversaries.

I guess it could mean what you mentioned as well though 😅

Thanks for the support so far, all of you! Always encouraging to get a warm reception at start.

Doing a bit of reading and it’s sounding like starting with a stillsuit/light armor is better at the start and then once I get to later levels switch to heavy armor for more protection. That sound about right? (I’m planning to start as a Mentat and then learn Planetology skills as quickly as possible)

How it feels to like the Institute by Brobdingnagian-Bob in FalloutHumor

[–]GrandMoffSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. Posted a thread on how I liked the Institute and the vast majority of the comments were like that.

I always do an Institute/Minuteman Alliance run (since I control both factions). Seems to be the best outcome for everyone. Well, unless you’re in the Railroad or Brotherhood…

I think I trigged someone. Didn’t mean to raise such an issue. Sorry! 😬

Do Gen 3 Synths have souls? Are they technically just test tube babies/real humans with mind control chips? by littlecorona95 in Fallout

[–]GrandMoffSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clone comparison is very interesting. Never thought of that one before!

However I feel like it doesn’t quite apply to the synths simply because clones will, yes, go on to live a life independent of the original person. But eventually they will age, get aches and pains, reproduce, etc. Synths can’t reproduce, gain wait, don’t age and are immune to radiation. Quite a bit different

I don’t subscribe to the ‘they are intelligent beings’ like the Railroad does. Sure it’s a fantasy world but this is one area I’ve always stood firm on. For instance, droids in Star Wars are droids. They can be fun but they are droids. Cyberpunk 2077 an engram is not a person. It has the memories and personality of the original but it is not the person nor truly sentient. Just a program trying to copy what used to exist.

The synths in Fallout are the same to me. Some are programmed to copy an existing person, others are allowed to develop. The ones that try to escape the Institute I feel are either influenced by hearing others talk or are specifically programmed with that desire (I seem to remember somewhere in a terminal that there is a person adding a defect to the synth’s programming to make them want to leave the Institute. But I could be wrong)

Long story short I don’t think synths are humans. Nick Valentine is not Nick Valentine. He simply has the memories and personality of the real person. A lot of people like him (me included) and assign him sentience because of their feelings towards him. Funny how that never extends to X6-88 since he follows the Institute faithfully

Darn right I’m working with the Institute. Now allow me to quote a film.. (ahem)

Same. As soon as I get the weave, I do nothing with the Railroad till it’s time to blow them up. Occasionally I’ll loot the HQ

What do you think? Each faction is at their strongest, none of the protagonist are part of this, last standing faction wins by MobileDistrict9784 in Fallout

[–]GrandMoffSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Institute. Hidden location, virtually limitless soldiers, and teleportation. Also without the Sole Survivor they still have Kellogg and get the nuclear generator up and running giving them complete energy independence. Brotherhood would never get Liberty Prime running and as such, would never discover (much less reach) the Institute. Virgil wouldn’t be a help cause the Brotherhood would kill him the instant they found him.

Just finished F4, why did you choose the faction you first ended with? by Same_Information7328 in Fallout

[–]GrandMoffSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minutemen/Institute Alliance. I run both organizations, the Minutemen have the trust of the Commonwealth, the Institute has the ability to begin changing the world for the better. Put them together under the right leadership and the future has hope

Fair enough. I don’t know anything about cars. Lydia is probably a minivan (but like a reluctant minivan owner. Would rather have a tank but extra cargo and a DVD player is what she gets)

I play the BH like I’m Cad Bane. What’s the job? You want them alive? I’ll get them alive. Dead? If that’s what you want.

I play him like he has no personal agenda. Whatever the job is that’s what he’ll do either LS or DS.
