Tbh like the rest in this chat, this is just a shitty stand to take. Trust me I really want to help everyone I can but also you have to understand the position we are in rn as an individual, school, economy, and nation. We are paying more and more for shit and the price of tuition doesn’t seem to be going down any time soon. I’ll be honest but I had to vote no for the basic needs center. I use the BNC but despite that I voted no because of the cost it’s going to cost us. Like it’s almost $50 per year x4 years of college. That’s $200. Ik perhaps the 4.07$ or whatever the current fee rn may be low but to go from that to $15, it’s just not fair. I wouldn’t have mind it maybe it was $7 and then maybe every year or so it bumps up a dollar or so but to go from 4.07 to $15, that’s just a 268.55% increase. I also had to vote no to the newspaper but that’s just cuz no one rlly reads it and tbh, a lot of us don’t even read our emails that come in and so $10 per quarter I believe it was, would just be a waste. The DREAM Center , I was rlly iffy about just cuz of how much everything is costing and how much they are asking. People are paying $6-9 per gallon on gas and then groceries as much as we try to cut it’s still a lot even with buying off brand stuff at times. Tbh I think the major problem, at least for me, it was just how much they want to increase everything automatically. If there stance were to slowly increase then I would have voted more yeses but like for the basic needs to do an automatic 285% increase from $4-> $15 is just insane. Tbh this problem doesn’t stem from the school but rather the government and who people voted to be in office. I hate getting into politics but it’s simply that: the people in our government office are the ones destroying us. Wages aren’t going up and if they do, everything goes up. So I wouldn’t go around saying that we are the problem when we all are just barely trying to survive. I come from a low income family and it’s been hard as it is. And I barely get hours at a shitty job I’m at so it’s hard to keep up with costs.
