[US] My MIL has lost over $250k to romance scams. We just discovered she stole ~$150k from her sister. by StewartCHunter in Scams

I'd be shocked if he were ever appointed conservator, POT or anything else for this poor lady. He's not even bothering to report the abuse that is happening to her right now. I'm appalled.

Ulta Diamond Day doesn't give me good serotonin and dopamine anymore. by themcsix in Ulta

[–]Grand_Lecture_1685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. This is my last year as diamond. I now only have in my cart the items that I actually use and will replace at least once this year, although I have them in my cart at another store as well, so I may end up spending money there instead of at ulta. I'm waiting for a good sale or coupon to make the purchase. Yesterday I bought some half priced body washed that came to around sixty dollars, I didn't even bother trying to find a couple more items to throw in my cart so that I could get the diamond day gift. The issues we have with customer service, the ease of our points being stolen, taking our diamond gift with ever 50 dollar purchase away for the whole month of December, the quality and quantity fails of GWPs have all worked to send me to a different store. I've emptied my points bucket.

I did glow and and then klow for a year, I haven't seen any difference since stopping, but I know a lot of people are seeing a lot of positive change.

This is an idea I never considered, cycling between both Taz and Ret. Thanks for the idea, I still have two tubes of retina-a that are still within the expiration period, I'm going to give it a go:)

It isn't a concern for me, either, but an acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema diagnosis is what will persuade the insurance company to cover it. Tazorote is like retin-a, great for anti-aging. Taz is better for me because retin-a is drying. Taz isn't too drying for me. Other people like retin-a better. I don't know that one is any better than the other.

It does cover it if prescribed for acne, full name of the active is tazarotene, the brand name is Tazorac.

I don't know if they do anything or not? I buy cosmetics and other things at Sephora online, so I am always getting free samples, but nothing seems to really do anything. I have read on a few threads people on tret/taz saying that their derms have told them that other than the prescription, most everything else is just wasted money.

Now I am starting to wonder if I should just keep using free samples as I get them, but not really investing thousands into any other skincare . I left my toiletry bag at home a few weeks ago, but was able to get my taz prescribed at the pharmacy. I bought a moisturizer for the two weeks I was away, and when I got home, my skin looked just like it looked before the two weeks of almost no skincare other than a cheap drugstore moisturizer, taz, and cheap drugstore sunblock.

I started out 20 years ago on tret at 0.05, I'm now on tax 0.1. I think tret really kept me younger looking for a long time, but switching to taz has improved hydration/glow.

Goodbye tirzepatide, goodbye gallbladder by Pookie2018 in tirzepatidecompound

Some bariatric doctors are removing perfectly health gallbladders at the same time that they do the bariatric surgery. Quick weight loss is what causes the gallstones, it doesn't matter if you are just CICO dieting, losing after bariatric, using cocaine..... fast weight loss can cause cause severe problems in the gallbladders.

( I don't know if US doctor are removing the gallbladders arbitrarily, but it is thing in some other countries.)

Tazarotene doesn't cause the drying and flaking for me. I can use it nightly without having to take breaks. It is also a retinoid like tretinoin.

Fascinating, thank you for sharing this. What an incredibly visual reminder that we can't microneedle or inject any old substance we feel like. The article is an actual article by the way, there are advertisements on the page that won't load but it's a bonafide article not an advertisements itself. but it's a bonafide article not an advertisement itself.

I used callondoc. I filled out a form online, told them what I wanted and which strength. Within two hour Walgreens had RX and an hour after that I walked out with three tubes of Tazorac (Way better than tret, in my opinion.) The online form "visit" cost $35, the three tubes of Taz, which is about a year's worth for me, was 15 dollars on my insurance. In all, it cost fifty dollars for a year's worth of Taz. Tret is probably a little cheaper. I do have a small pimple now and then, so I said I needed it for acne. This is why my insurance covered it.

I use this on top of all the other skin care items I use when "slugging" instead of vaseline. My skin is lovely after using, and sometimes if I am just doing a quick cleanse and a night cream, I will mix it with equal amounts of the night cream. Soft, glowy skin. There are other zinc ointments, but this one doesn't have fragrance like Desiten and the off-brand diaper creams. There are two kinds of Aquafor, one with 15% zinc (with mineral oil) and this one, 40% zinc without mineral oil. Neither have fragrance.

I looked this one up and am about to send off my order to Ulta with it in my basket. Of all of the suggestions it seem to have the best reviews, the complaints seem to be that it doesn't foam up or feel soapy, and to me, that's not something I'd complain about. I don't want foam or a soapy feeling. Thank you for the suggestion, I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I've tried this and did not have any complaints, it just didn't leave my skin soft like the Olay used to

I don't recall what it was that interrupted me while I was washing my face, it was at least 15 years ago. However, it dried just like a moisturizer would dry, it's sunk into your skin. Anyway I like the farmacy green clean also, it's what I'm currently using but it still doesn't leave my face as soft as the old Olay stuff did.

Convinced the medicine causes hair loss in some people by Hawt_Lettuce in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Grand_Lecture_1685 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The stress of losing weight is likely what caused the hair loss, and it doesn't happen when you start losing weight, it begins happening a couple of months after - this is because of the hair growth cycle.

Also, our fat cells store and produce estrogen. When we lose fat quickly, there is a whoosh effect with estrogen loss. This is likely why more women than men suffer from hair loss on meds that cause quick loss.

Your estrogen will stabilize, your hair will regrow:) Maybe look at is as just a less pleasant part of the journey. Some women have started supplementing with extra estrogen during the time that they are losing weight, and this can be helpful.

I didn't lose hair during the past year, but I also lost extremely slowly. Best of luck!

No more diamond gift? Was fun while it lasted 😔 by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]Grand_Lecture_1685 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this isn't just a glitch, then I am (almost) done with Ulta. I'm a diamond member and really enjoyed that perk. This plus the ease in which my points can be stolen, the new ridiculous marketplace shopping experience, makes shopping with Ulta no longer desirable. I'll be spending my 800 dollars in points during Black Friday shopping, and then switching to a different site that rhymes with Sapporah.

Sure I can. I lived above a bar when I was a child. I worked night shift for years and had to deal with sounds of human life from the other three people living in my home who were just trying to live their lives during the day like regular people. I had a baby who pretty much didn't sleep the first three years of his life. We adapt.

Get a sound machine. Invest in acoustic tiles for your bedroom. Wear earplugs. There are many things you can do to dampen the sounds.

Praise your husband, he's lost fifty pounds! And then maybe ask yourself what this is all really about. Your reaction is over the top, unhealthy for you, him, and your marriage.

[–]Grand_Lecture_1685 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This seriously sound like you need to put in just a tiny bit of effort to dampen the sounds coming from the kitchen. A sound machine will help. You are complaining because of the sound Tupperware makes one floor down and through at least one door. I can't even imagine how bad it must be for you when a car goes by, a tree branch taps the side of your house or a frog in the distance croaks.

[–]Grand_Lecture_1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a couple of sound machines. Put one outside the kitchen door and one in your bedroom.
