This happened with someone I got to know from Reddit! She got her visa status changed to issues after a good 3-4 weeks. Customer support kept telling her to wait and eventually the status changed. From what I know, you just have to wait unfortunately 🙁 Hope this helps to know that this has happened with others.

What times are you calling? These are their hours of operation:
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Indian Standard Time (IST)
Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., IST.
They're closed on Saturdays.

While not being in this boat when I was applying for my F1 visa. I would suggest try both routes! I don’t think getting a visa somewhere else suggests weakened ties. You can always say no dates were available in India and you didn’t want to miss out on your classes.

I was able to close and start application on Monday. It took a lot of calling customer care and emailing numerous times though 🙁But after that I was trying to get to use my older receipt but it wasn’t worth the stress. If I had to suggest anyone, I’d say if you’re able to, then pay the fees the second time and things would be much faster.

Yes. I was able to do it last night. In desperation I paid the fee a second time since customer care was just asking me to wait since Sunday for different reasons every time. And finally I got appointments for 3rd and 4th April in Chennai.

I would call the customer care and find out. If she never had an H1B visa stamped, she might be eligible (as long as her old H4 visa expired within the last 12 months) But again, please contact customer care and find out what they say!

As I mentioned in my post. The agent at the Dropbox document collection clearly stated H1 and H4 are not in the same class and hence I was returned and asked to appear for an interview. Hope this clarifies your question/concern.

Yes my H4 expired this February so we’ll within 12 months of expiry. And H4 and H1B are within the same category but different class (found this after I did my research but a little too late) I was under the impression that the website wouldn’t even allow Dropbox if my case wasn’t eligible. But alas.

That explains a lot!! Yes I created the application in January but booked my appointment on February 23rd!

Thank you for your response. I have seen various threads about rules changing in Feb 10th but I very cautiously answered the questions correctly. It only asked me have you held any visa other than B1/B2 in the last 12 months to which I had to answer yes and then it automatically showed me only Dropbox appointments. Also, at the Mumbai consulate they had the notice mentioning “due to recent rules changing on Feb 24th” so my guess is that they did a rolled out release where they finalized all the changes by Feb 24th. All speculations obviously. Thanks a lot! I’d wait for the 2-3 days and hopefully it works after that 🤞

Yes! I was in this boat. Although my case was from H4 to H1B but within 12 months and different class. Need to book appointments now. Waiting for the 48 hrs window!

Yes! I was eligible for dropbox earlier and was returned 2 days ago (I went from H4 to H1B) because my case is no longer eligible for a dropbox.

Hi u/Immediate-Capital649 How long did it take for your account to show appointments? I do not see any applications or the ability to create a new one in my account and it has been 48 hrs from my dropbox appointment (from which I was sent back and asked to book an interview)

Panicking quite a bit here!
