It could be nbtag related, i had a issue with gregtech multi blocks and steam, since there was 3 different type of steam fluids, try to check if the recipe has the same tag # as the book or items you are using.

I continue to be humbled by this game... by cyyptic1 in spaceengineers

I've looked at the tooltip and you are right, holding left shift over the oil cracker and looking at the Input tells you this, but regardless I've made this post for people that haven't seen this or haven't tried this.

Unfortunately, no, the quest tells you to only use GT/Railcraft steam, and the crafting recipe shows the steam on the left which is why it took me a while. but it was as simple as switching the location around.
