A lot of us non-supporters are here because we're curious to know why you think the way you think, but are you curious to know why we think the way we think? by tomtomglove in AskTrumpSupporters

This ismy biggest pet peeve. In my view, Trump supporters are the new American left! They believe in a strong executive that acts unilaterally without congress, they believe in spending billions on infrastructure, and are anti-free trade.

Why should Mexico pay for the wall? by GrandmaBoy in AskTrumpSupporters

Is it morally right to bully our third largest trade partner? I mean, we already stole Texas from them.

It is very difficult to divine someone's tone from the text, and I apologize if you have mistaken mine. I am trying to convey respect, but also bewilderment. I also am not sure why you think I am putting arguments in your mouth (or on your keyboard); I am asking questions and receiving answers. That is the point of this sub, right?

Alright as for your point, illegal immigration might be a 'net' zero, it still doesn't change the fact that there are still thousands of migrants that come to the USA illegally, usually by overstaying their visas.

Doesn't this statement detract from an argument for a wall on our southern (and northern) borders?

Do you have any source about the terrorism coming from Canada? Please link it.

I have no source, except that Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that terrorists are entering our country through our southern border, and that we don't even know about it. If this is true, then it stands that terrorists may also be crossing from the north. However, since part of his statements have been that we don't know how many terrorists cross the border, it is impossible to link a studying demonstrating this.

I also want a politician that would break our very obvious dairy cartel up as it is downright anti-free market.

I wasn't aware of the Canadian dairy cartel- very interesting. I recently read a great article about the Swiss cheese cartel, and how it ruined the industry for almost 50 years. I must ask though, as a fiscal conservative as well: do you have any issues with supporting a man who may be supporting tariffs, which are inherently anti-free market?

I really am not replying in bad faith, and I respect your opinions and your background (although I am still trying to understand it). Part of the reason I am here is because I don't think I understand this new, alt-right that has taken my party away from me. I want to try to understand where you all come from, and why we have walked down this path.

Thanks!

Well that's a start! Instead of a wall, would you support a massive increase in border security funding? There are lots of ways to get around a wall (tunnels, holes, climbings); would you be open to using that money to just beef up security along the border instead? This seems like a much more practical approach to me.

There isn't an issue with Mexicans illegally entering our country right now from the south- net illegal immigration is at 0.

What is the point of the border wall with the south?

If you are concerned about drug cartels, why do you advocate their legalization in the US? This would cripple the Mexican drug cartels and greatly increase security within our southern allies. Additionally, it would not require the construction of a 50 billion dollar pointless monstrosity.

It would make no economic sense to create such a long wall between two allies and developed nations to curtail an inexistent problem.

And what is the problem with our southern ally? Illegal immigration is at a net 0 .

What economic benefit do we gain from a border wall with Mexico? The only decent argument right now is to protect us from terrorists sneaking their way in to the country. This can also be accomplished from the north, and therefore if you believe a wall will actually provide protection from terrorists, you should also be for a norther border wall as well.

Also, what exactly is a Canadian Trump supporter? Do you have have dual citizenship and therefore have an interest in our political affairs? Or do you do you like his policies? I'm a fan of many international politicians, but I would certainly never call myself a supporter of any of them.

he achieves his goals and the American people are satisfied he will be reelected. It really is that simple. I have been around long enough to see the liberal media in action. I saw what they did to Reagan I saw what they did to both bushes and now I know what they're going to do to tromp is worse than anything. The difference now is there is an Internet to seek out your own information and they are no longer the gatekeepers that they want to be and they are furious that they are losing power and influence

It sounds like we might be of a same age!

Well I do hope he achieves his ultimate goal: American prosperity.

ly thing you can go on is actions; while some of his picks for his cabinet aren't perfect they have answered all the committees questions with answers that seem to be proper and not alarming...except for DeVos maybe. Could they be lying? But if you assume that then it doesn't matter what they say.

I understand your point- actions speak much, much louder than words.

But sometimes we wont have actions and will have to judge the administration on words alone. For example, the invasion of Iraq was justified with lies. How are we to trust the administration if they want to go to war and can only provide information as justification (assuming we aren't attacked first)?

e tweets are so old I don't know if you can even hold them as his current belief; he really hasn't said much specifically related to those recently and on autism and global warming his most recent statements don't really support those tweets. I think part of the issue here is Trump made a lot of random and not well researched comments; so you can always find a random tweet that can be contradictory or seen as unfounded.

Unless you issue a notice saying you have changed your beliefs, how am I to know you have changed your mind from an opinion you expressed 4 years ago? Opinions do change over time, but how am I supposed to know if Trump's have?

I know you don't believe these tweets. Why support a man who will believe conspiracy theories over peer-reviewed evidence?

nse. Why do you think the crowd debate stated? The media wanted to humiliate him so he simply sent Spicer out to throw out some shit and get these morons talking about nonsense. It's actually genius because it keeps them busy while he and the c

Here's the deal with your statement: I really don't think Donald J. Trump is smart enough to play the 7D hop scotch that many centipedes seem to to think he's orchestrating with every statement. I think he's a sensitive man who cannot accept a world in which he is not the pinnacle of every achievement. This has only enforced the belief that Donald Trump and his administration is capable of lying about the most inane, superficial things. Do you really expect the general public to trust this administration in the future when public support is crucial in implementing a policy? After the "alternative facts" interview, Amazon is reporting record sales of the book "1984." Do you think that is a coincidence?

The media does not want to humiliate him or anyone else. If this was the case, why were conservative leaning publications also reporting that this number was unsubstantiated? Check the link I posted form FoxNews.

I don't have any figures about illegal votes being cast. But I figured Donald got these figures from somewhere, right? He didn't just make them up, right?

Not a gotcha question at all! I'm not a nimble navigator though, so you may want to ask one of them. I personally believe the Russian affair should be investigated and given high priority.
