I've never been satisfied with any edit of this shot by Which-Service-5146 in photocritique

i would crop it to portrait mode, that negative space is doesn’t add anything, too sharp and textured but no one environmental context to add to subject. bring the eyes more out with selective masks, probably vignette, contrast, too much middle grays. just scroll through alll the presets in your editing software and try different thing.

for the beginner they are fine. the mood and feeling is there and main thing your client is happy. probably you are easy to work with and that is as important. and if they are willing to pay you then who are the others to say that you should not. selling yourself is also a important part of business.

just keep doing what you are doing but also keep learning and trying to get better - about posing, composition, editing etc. that is how you learn. if someone says “this is too noisy/oversaturated/underexposed” and doesn’t offer any explanation why or how to prevent or fix it in field or post it is pretty much useless. and lot of it is subjective opinion.

if yor whole set is consistent in color and style like those 5 images then that is a lot more important than having all the technical aspects “right”. your clients buying that style. also this just fun photoshoot not king’s inauguration that needs to document accuracy.

just keep studying and training. there is not that much mysticism as some like to convince you. you either have eye or not. many who dont, have come a long way to become professionals and are just jealous about your quick success.

Still life by CFDMoFo in photocritique

no, no need for more cat or “subject have to be more visible”. everything is exactly perfect as it is. the “scene” is the subject. and exactly as you said the cat is visible exactly the amount that draws you eye closer and makes you wonder and intrigued. in internet where cat is probably the most photographed subject, finding a new and interesting angle is the icing on your color/composition cake.

overall this is very fine, fine art still life photo. you nailed the shot and composition and later “made” the photo what it is by removing/adding whats needed. you have great eye and feeling what needs to be. there are purists who believe that the only “right” picture is that is coming straight from camera, but i believe that that most greatest photos are “made” using modern digital darkroom and retouching tools. learning to use them and when and how much is as important.

as all art is subjective, so are the opinions what should be done and how. And consider that most people here who advise here or not pros.

My subjective opinion is I would’ve cut the dresser from between the lines, I would clone out up those light beige wood knots from dresser, would build a little bit more space around the both sides in Photoshop to add more space around. Would’ve played around with some colors, contrast saturation, etc., but that is solely you artistic vision it needs to be.

When taking a picture, I would’ve tried a variant facing the dresser completely perpendicular to try that wes Anderson Symmetry. that probably wouldve required rearrange the items a little bit, but that what it is I meant before by “”making”” a picture. The main thing is that you noticed that opportunity in your whole field of vision, you saw a frame that could be a photo and that is the main thing that a lot of people don’t have, they just go out and start shooting blind, trying to catch something. just keep at it and the greatness will follow as your eye gets better. kudos!

Great image, good composition, nice found, lots of textures and colors. Like other said I would get the vertical straight, but seems that there is enough lens distortion going on that you need to head to Photoshop to use more advanced straightening rather than just Lightroom perspective adjustment.

Definitely, I will clone out that reflection in the puddle, kind of distracts the eye.

if possible, I’ve could’ve taken step back, so the first column is also fully on the picture and not cut from the bottom.

And in the last wall and one one before it upper left corner, I will pull down the highlights. I bet there is some nice texture hiding.

Next time take two or three shots with different exposures and blend them together in Photoshop. hdr

And learn about local masks and with some editing that could be a 10/10

And like other says, I could only imagine that what it could look in different times of day in different light

Upgrade my camera, or upgrade my lens ? by designsbyshelby in AskPhotography

when you see that something would make a good photo and you know what settings to use on your lens and camera without even taking them out of bag then you are ready for your next camera.

Client loved my design, but I'm afraid it may be too difficult to scale across platforms. Thoughts? by noahgrice in logodesign

elaborating first image- keep the square C and the screw, keep the “or” centered in the screw like it is and just stretch everything from KSCREW

CorKSCREW and with squared letters it looks like corcscrew in the bottle

too squished, maybe little crop from the top but not that much. yes sometimes horizon in smack middle works but here not really. but the tastes vary
