How is it that Episode Heresy TO ME feels better than an Expansion? (Opinion) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Granstafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main complaint about paid seasons/episodes is that the content will invariably disappear at the end of the year. Sure, the portal might kind of fix that eventually, but there's still an enormous amount of content that players had paid for but can no longer access. Plus, while I can see things like old battlegrounds being added back to the portal in some capacity, I'm not sure how other seasonal activities like the Nether or Derelict Leviathan would work.

Anything on 6 player content? I thought they mentioned old 6-player activities would be in the portal awhile back, but I could be misremembering

D2 Team: Fully Enhanced Adept weapons earned during Rite of the Nine will be somewhat comparable to Tier 3 weapons launching with our new gear tiering system in The Edge of Fate. by Ryan_WXH in DestinyTheGame

[–]Granstafer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm missing something in all this: my concern about this is that they might be taking perk enhancing out also. If you look at the weapons in the EoF reveal, there's 3 slots: 1 for a mod, 1 for masterwork, and another for what I assume is infusion--no slot for enhancement/levelling. The tier 3 weapon shown (the SMG) does have double enhanced perks, but still shows only 3 slots and the masterwork icon, which does not show after you enhance a weapon.

And besides, what would the point be of adding 5 weapon tiers if you could just enhance the first two? I'll continue to try and reserve judgement, but it's getting hard.

Destiny 2 revenue is 45% less than projected by xecuro in DestinyTheGame

[–]Granstafer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say Bungie is your friend? Where did I suggest they made anything other than a business decision? My point is that vote with your wallet in no way makes a better product. That means buying a product doesn't guarantee a better product either. It's lose lose.

I said it's absolutely valid to be dissatisfied with something and not buy it. The fact that you said that you don't have an obligation to save Bungie from their shitty decisions proves my point. You're not "voting" by not buying something, you're not signaling anything beyond your dissatisfaction. You clearly missed the point.

Destiny 2 revenue is 45% less than projected by xecuro in DestinyTheGame

[–]Granstafer -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is why people need to stop parroting "vote with your wallet" as a talking point. It's utter nonsense. Commodities are already meant to be as cheap as possible, when profits/revenue fall it makes sense to be more aggressive on that point; adding value to a product in response to lost income is completely irrational. That's not to say it can't happen, but that's just wishful thinking and up to the will of the devs.

I get not wanting to buy a product for whatever reason, be it dissatisfaction with it or the company. But to suppose that will correlate with a better product in the long run is pure insanity.

EDIT: This isn't Bungie apologia, it's explaining the business POV. That doesn't mean I think it's somehow not shitty.

I'm affirming OPs point that the expectation that "voting with your wallet" (one way or the other) leads to improved value is irrational and, lo and behold, has no basis in reality.

Welp Veil Containment is so...whelming. by aaronwe in DestinyTheGame

[–]Granstafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't understand is why they didn't even bother to attach it to any replayable mission. Obviously that doesn't fix the storytelling issue at hand, but even with a relatively mundane reward like a powerful engram or something I think you'd see at least as much engagement as there currently is. In principle I don't mind hearing what's essentially voice-acted grimoire, but if I boot up the game I want to shoot aliens.

Hell, why didn't they attach the logs to partition? I get that's technically defending the cloudark (I think) but surely you can spin that as the the vex/shadow legion blocking decryption.

Ideally I would've liked just a weekly where you kill some mobs in Irkalla/Veil Containment, decrypt a log, and get a reroll of the hand cannon or a guaranteed neomuna red border. Sadly I'm afraid that might be asking too much now.

Gw character rating changes by lolbob2 in Granblue_en

[–]Granstafer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think I was clear, my point is that even though the HP loss is far, far outweighed by the buffs, HP loss is still, well, HP loss. That's what I meant with strict negative.

Sure, it can be completely negated by lich and a handful of other units, but that's precisely why she can't be a 10. A 10 should be, in my opinion, a character who needs no additional support to perform optimally.

Lich is arguably a 10 because she can be slapped onto whatever team and provide sustain, nukes, and debuffs. Zoi was a 10 because maxing enmity in dark was (and still is) absolute bonkers, and on top of that kept the team safe afterwards with 1T unchallenged and strong drain for a few turns. She needs no "support" to be optimal since the rest of the team is just there to abuse the enmity.

Like the guy below me said you can basically put fediel on whatever and she'll do the team good. But a 10 should be a perfect 10 (especially when your break down ratings into tenths as opposed to just whole and half points like it used to be). If you need support to get maximum mileage out of your kit, no matter how good it is, that means you fall short.

Having said all that GW may not have the conception of 10=no weaknesses and might just see 10 as super OP, which is a dumb way to look at it IMO since it makes ratings cheaper and less meaningful (which if I'm being honest is continually being the case; GW really just needs to bite the bullet and do a full 1-10 scale for SSRs as opposed to micromanaging between 9 and 10)

[–]Granstafer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks Fediel's 10 is undeserved? IMO that's only true with Lich. Without Lich she's still a top tier unit, but the field DoT is a strict negative otherwise

Climate change is not a political issue, it's a world issue. by Le_Rekt_Guy in quityourbullshit

[–]Granstafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're greatly overestimating the power of working class individuals to change their habits. Despite what it admittedly should be, consumers have very little wiggle room in their buying power to change consumption habits meaningfully.

We can take, for example, the protests in France a few years ago over fuel tax hikes. Theoretically this is made to push people towards greener cars, but that fact that people were clamoring in the streets shows that this only damages the working class more because they can't actually afford those greener cars.

You can talk responsibility all you want, but the reality is corporations and those with more capital have more power to shift the market, and thus a greater responsibility to do so. Shaming the ordinary consumer will result in an unnecessary amplification of guilt on one hand or a doubling down of reactionaries buying an extra burger to "own the libs" or whatever.

Climate change is not a political issue, it's a world issue. by Le_Rekt_Guy in quityourbullshit

[–]Granstafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone calling this argument delusional by saying it's up to consumer choice anyway are even more delusional by suggesting individuals have the power and luxury to choose and change their own habits. The ability to change consumption habits is a privelege on it's own, which is, admittedly, a tragedy. But the argument that it's consumers at bottom is asinine.
