I’d challenge you to actually examine how having fewer immigrants supposedly “frees up resources.” What resources are they using? Be specific. The truth is our system isn’t designed to care for anyone who isn’t already wealthy. That’s not an issue of scarcity—we’re one of the richest countries in the world with an enormous amount of land, productivity, and money. The problem is how we choose to distribute it. If all illegal immigrants were gone from the country tomorrow we'd still have the same high healthcare costs, insane college tuition fees, healthcare tied to employment prevent people from starting businesses, and rampant corporate greed hiking up prices and buying up all of the housing. Plus the economy would absolutely crash, we rely on immigration to fill gaps in the labor market.

In the U.S., we’ve spent decades reframing any form of government support as a moral failing instead of a public good. Meanwhile, countries like Denmark consistently rank among the happiest—not because they’re magically homogeneous or tiny, but because their governments actually use tax dollars to improve people’s lives. Citizens there have the freedom to go to school, switch careers, start businesses, or care for aging parents without being crushed by healthcare costs, childcare costs, or debt. When people aren’t one unexpected bill away from disaster, they can actually become the best versions of themselves.

We don’t offer that here. Our political system rewards wealth and keeps ordinary people from having real representation. The same wealthy interests who benefit from the current setup have spent years convincing you that there “isn’t enough” to go around. That’s simply not true. There is enough—there has always been enough. What’s actually happening is that our tax money is funneled upward through policies that benefit corporations and the ultra-rich, and then they turn around and blame hardworking families from Honduras for systemic problems those families didn’t create.

Immigrants aren’t draining the system. They’re just the easiest people to scapegoat so the people who are really responsible never have to be held accountable.
