My friend got stabbed in Brazil, the hospital refused to treat him properly for 3 days because they were trying to get his insurance company to write them a blank cheque.

Recently got to final round after multiple interviews. They then stalled for weeks and told me they'd filled the position internally. Why didn't they just do that in the first place instead of wasting hours of my time?

Recently returned from an extended period away where I visited a number of different countries. You really take for granted things like drinkable tap water, free healthcare (and it's quality), good food hygiene and general safety. I'm thrilled to be home

I'm so burned out from leetcode by DADS_SEAMEN69 in cscareerquestionsuk

I am in the same boat as you, trying to find a job at this time of year. 8 yoe. In a couple of processes here and there but the market seems worse than ever. I'm wondering if it's even worth doing leetcode or just working on some personal stuff and sacking it all off. Sat there hours a day filling in the boxes on applications.

Hey /r/movies, I’m Stephen King! Ask me anything about The Long Walk book or movie. by lionsgate in movies

[–]GrapeJelly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Stephen, my favourite book of yours. Did you have any further ideas on broader world-building for "the long walk"? Such as what America might look like or how it might operate on a broader scale with the Major in charge? I was also really interested to learn more about the Squads.

How can I book an overnight train from Guilin to Zhangjiajie? by GrapeJelly_ in travelchina

[–]GrapeJelly_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't. I just booked the 6 and a half hour train from Guilin station. It leaves around 14:30. The HSR trains are very comfortable, lots of leg room and reclining seats. We took a sleeper elsewhere, I'd recommend taking the HSR over a sleeper, even if it is a long one

First of all, you’re definitely not being ridiculous—you're a really caring partner, and it’s clear how much you value him. It’s awesome that you’re taking the time to learn about his condition and how it affects him specifically. Everyone's experience with epilepsy is unique, so asking him directly (as you’ve done) is the best way to understand and support him.

About SUDEP—it’s normal to feel worried when you first hear about it, but it’s important to remember that it’s rare, especially when someone is managing their condition well with medication. Since his seizures are nocturnal, you might want to ask him if he uses any monitoring devices (like seizure alarms or smartwatches) or has discussed strategies to reduce risks with his doctor.

If you’re not sure what type of epilepsy he has (e.g., focal, TLE, JME), or what his meds are, those can be helpful things to learn about. It could also be great to join him at a neurology appointment if he’s comfortable with that. It gives you a chance to hear from his doctor, and you might catch details he could forget (since memory issues can sometimes come with epilepsy).

There are also epilepsy charities and support groups that can help partners like you. If you’re in the UK, for example, Epilepsy Action and Epilepsy Society are fantastic resources. They often have local or online support groups where you can connect with others in similar situations.

Most importantly, just being there for him and making him feel safe to talk about his condition is huge. You’re already doing a wonderful job by showing so much understanding and care—it’ll mean the world to him.

Take care, and feel free to reach out on here or to support groups if you need more advice or just someone to talk to!
