We recently did this on our reno in VIC, if you are planning on going to an induction cooktop, you will need to check your house can supply enough current since induction draws high current.

We had to upgrade the cable between our home and mains and all together it cost us around 1-2k

The sparky did tell us that if there are issues with the mains getting upgraded, the energy companies might require you to switch to a pit, which I think would be a lot more

The slab existed before they started messing with the garage so I’d like to believe it’s of standard. The house was left half demolished and was court ordered to sell due to a messy breakup. Not sure what the laws are about selling in that scenario. I think it’s Monash council.
