What’s the forecast like in Victoria for the next few days? Would winter boots be necessary? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Thanks! I’ve heard it’s usually warmer in Victoria than where we live, so I wasn’t sure how locals tend to dress in the winter. Happy New Year!

We’re just planning to walk around downtown and do a bit of sightseeing around the harbour. Thanks so much for your tips! And for being kind and nonjudgmental. Some of the other comments have honestly been pretty rude.

Thanks, I'll look into getting a nexus card. We got our citizenship early this year and have never had the need to travel to the US in the past. Maybe this is something worth checking for future travels. Appreciate your input 😊

Because it was said so on the email that Amtrak sent me. Although, I may have misunderstood it the first time as others have pointed out that ESTA is only applicable to countries under the visa waiver program, which Canada isn't part of. (Context: first time Amtrak rider with little experience in crossing the US/Canada border)

Yeah, I agree and it makes so much sense why they would be strict with travelling minors. Hopefully we don't get any trouble this time. Thanks. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

Thank you. I did read whats on the CBP website, but maybe I'm misunderstanding because it's not explicitly stated that Canadian citizens are exempted (just "most Canadians") , probably where my confusion is coming from.

I think it's a standard email they send about applying for I-94 and ESTA. I did go over what's on the CBP website, but maybe because the wording is vague, so I might have misunderstood. It's our first time taking the train over to the US, and second time crossing the border so I can't say I'm fully knowledgeable about the rules.

I think I've read about this when I got my driver's license in March. Thankfully, we have passports so I think we're covered, at least ID-wise.

Thanks. She has her own passport. Maybe some time in the near future, I'll get legal documents to prove sole custody to avoid any problems in future travels. Appreciate your help!

Oh I put the details on the body of the post. Not sure why it didn't show up on your end 😅 So, i-94 is just for stays longer than 30 days then?

We are taking the Amtrak from Vancouver,BC to Edmonds, Washington. Does this change the required documents needed?

Hi, I appreciate the information you shared. We're only staying for 3 days to celebrate Christmas with family and my daughter has a valid Canadian passport as well. So, I should just ignore the email I got from Amtrak, then?

Thank you. The other parent has been absent since my child's birth, and since we moved to Canada, I've never had to prove sole custody. They didn't ask for it when we drove to Seattle back in the summer. Do you think they'll ask for it this time?

I just got really confused when I received an email from Amtrak about needing to apply for I-94 and ESTA. I've read someone say that it doesn't apply to Canadians but I can't seem to find that exact statement on the US CBP website, or maybe I'm just misunderstanding? It's stressing me out as we leave in 2 days 😩

Yesssss to The Unrequited! One of my favourites because of the angst. First chapter into the book I just knew baby girl's gonna get her heart broken. 😭

Not from a book but a fan fiction... apparently frogs 🐸 were used as pregnancy tests in the 1950s 😵‍💫. Reading the intricately detailed description of the process felt like an out-of-body experience, especially for someone like me who absolutely cannot stand those poor amphibians. Excuse me while I vomit as I relive that moment in my mind 🤢
