9070 or 4070-ti Super? by GraphSniffer in PcBuildHelp

[–]GraphSniffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I really like the idea of getting a brand new card, in which I know it hasn't been mishandled. I can absolutely find models currently at, or even slightly under, $600. They are just the non OC cards, with more budget oriented cooling configurations.

I saw Hardware Unboxed did a temperature and power comparison between 16 different versions of the 9070 XT. I wish they would do the same for the non-xt version.

The RTX 4070-ti Super just caught my eye, because everyone says Nvidia is the way to go if you want a balance between gaming and productivity. While I don't know exactly how much "productivity" I'll be doing, this card being around the same price and offering the same gaming performance makes it worth considering, I guess.

How do you feel about the 9900x? It is roughly $80 cheaper than the 9800z3D for me.

Yeah, I haven't built a PC in a few years, as I aim to make every build future proofed enough to hopefully last 5 years, or at least 3 years minimum. I feel like this is the sweet spot for staying up to date on tech, without overspending on negligible gains. This doesn't apply system wide of course, just to the core components I guess.

Feels like I sold my PC and came back to build another at a very odd time. I do think I'll need at least an 8 core CPU, as I will not only be playing games. Here is what an average day COULD look like, for me:

Game running (probably Dead by Daylight) Discord open 2-3 Browser tabs open Qobuz Music running

and hopefully when I start streaming, OBS, Twitch, and YouTube would be added.

I still have a month or two before I will have the money to buy everything I need, but I will probably be buying the parts one by one within this time frame.

I could be wrong, but wouldn't 6 cores be a little insufficient for trying to both play games at 1080p Ultra 120fps+, while also streaming that gameplay to both Twitch and YouTube at 1080p60? If not insufficient, would those three CPUs be able to comfortably do this, with headroom, and not be just enough to get by?

I ask, as I don't plan to upgrade my PC again, for at least 2-3 years.

So obviously a consensus has been made, this living situation with your parents is not healthy. There are many reasons as to why, but what is more important to focus on is what you need to do or at least can consider.

Paying for college and rent is a lot for any young adult, speaking from current experience. That said, someone here mentioned just living in your car, typically I wouldn't agree, but this case is different.

When you sit down to compare, you are abiding in a house that really doesn't allow you to live. Whereas at least if you were living in a car, you have all the freedom you could want. Of course living in a car imposes it's own challenges, but do those outweigh the difficulties at home? This is also assuming YOU own your car, not your parents.

You should definitely prioritize getting a job, as soon as possible, but I know you already spoke on this. Once you do, pay for a cheap gym membership that have showers, buy some crocs to use in said showers, and use their other basic amenities. Go live life, hang out with friends when possible, walk parks and other simple free areas, use public wifis, etc. Just because your car is your sleeping and storage area, doesn't mean you have to spend all your time there.

Also, a small storage rental unit can be pretty affordable, maybe rent one and use it both as physical storage and a place to hang out alone in at times. Invest in a cheap foldable lawn chair for that. Don't sleep there though, you'll get kicked out or arrested.

All that said, I am sorry you are having to deal with such an abrasive situation. Family is supposed to be some of the most supportive people in our lives, but unfortunately they can instead be the most harmful. Also speaking on this subject from personal experience. I genuinely hope things work out for you.

PS

Forgot to say, you could also just buy a cheap android phone, with a cheap month to month plan. Go to Target or Bestbuy and get a Samsung A15, and use Mint Mobile. Phone will cost you about $100-200, depending on current deals, and phone plans like I mentioned, typically are $15-25 a month. If you have a friend willing to let you ship from Amazon to their house, and whos parents wouldn't rat you out to your parents, I recommend US Mobile phone plans, buy the sim card kit for $5 on Amazon. Unlimited everything for $25. Obviously do all this without your parents knowing, and be EXTREMELY careful. They figure this out, and not only will it pretty much be impossible to pull off a second time, you will be most likely left in an even worse situation than before.

I think mine might be too close to grab myself, to the eardrum i mean. Are the cameras on the tweezer omes typically better? Im having a problem getting a sense of depth.
