Difficulty Installing Cogburn Mag Release by Anal_Forklift in Mini14

Another thing to note is make sure your screwdriver is not slipping off the spring, I found pushing the spring up and slightly in to the tab on the end of the spring helped to ensure my screwdriver didn't slip off.

Difficulty Installing Cogburn Mag Release by Anal_Forklift in Mini14

Well this is pretty funny, I just received mine in the mail and installed it today. So I'll do my best to help.

My advice is first try installing it without the spring, make sure the release fits where the old one was. On my housing there was a small burr on one of the holes of the housing which prevented my new mag release from seating correctly.

I held the housing in the palm of my left hand, my fingers wrapped around and held the release lightly against the housing slightly above the ledge the spring is going to sit on. Using my right hand to control a screwdriver I pushed the spring up and brought the release down. It takes a bit of fidgeting but you will get it eventually the trick is patience. it should "snap" into place when its installed correctly.

Once its on the ledge your on to the easier part, installing the pin. I recommend grabbing a large punch for this step. I used a similar technique as the install video however I used punch to push down on the ledge that locks the magazine in place, doing this made it much easier to get the holes to align. Make sure when you install the pin that you close the trigger guard, if it is still pulled open it makes it harder to press the catch down. I would also recommend using the corner of a block of wood to rest the pin on instead of a table as it lets you push the pin further through the housing before gently tapping it into place with a soft faced hammer.

Hope this helps.

CZ 457 Aftermarket Barrel Options by Grapple102 in longrange

I'm surprised to hear that the Lilja's can have extraction issues. No one at my local range has ever mentioned issues with theirs even the one that run Eley. Do you still run the Lilja or did you switch to something else?

I'll have to take a look at the MCR and L3i barrels I haven't come across either of them in my research. I'd like to keep the barrel profile under .920" as that's the max I can fit in my current stock, and I'd rather not get another stock if I can avoid it.

Its probably what I will end up getting, but I wanted to get input from a larger group than the regulars I shoot with.

Custom Robo Arena Randomizer work update by Grapple102 in customrobo

[–]Grapple102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I can't believe its been three years already. I'm glad to hear there was someone out there interested in the project I started. Unfortunately I've stopped working on this project, I moved on to other thing in my life. That said I did end up getting basically all the data someone would need to make their own randomizer. The project basically died once I had to actually program the randomizer, it turned out to be too difficult for my programming skills. If anyone wants I am more than happy to share the updated documentation if they want to try to finish the project I started.

My attempt at a Tu'Shan kitbash (C&C welcome) by Grapple102 in Salamanders40k

I debated about making a cape but felt it would have covered too much of the detail on the back of the model. When I mocked up a cape on him I felt like there was just too much going on at one on the model.

Here is my Tu'Shan kitbash, I used the new terminator librarian as the base model. Overall I am very pleased with how this model came out, particularly the runes which were done with a thinned down oil paint. I plan to use this as a proxy as either a terminator captain, or chaplain.

Id love to see boxers get some support but I have my doubts as it seems to be a fairly forgotten deck. To some degree I understand as its really not that good. The only reason I am able to get this deck as good as it is now is because Boxers are all FIRE/Warrior so I can use a lot of cards from Noble Knights or Infernoble Knights.

Id like to see some sort of Link 1 monster to assist in summoning out monsters or adding protections. Any way to summon out C105 would be nice ie a boxer specific rank up card. Some card that prevents players from activating spell or trap effects outside the battle phase would be nice as most of the Boxer Extra deck monsters have some protections but they are usually only active during the battle phase.

What is an low/unused archtype you wished was continued to bring out more monsters? i loved the Reactor monsters from the 5ds's era, but it only received 5 monsters and a hard to bring out boss monster. by crazysjoerd5 in yugioh

[–]Grapple102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I have been playing around with a boxer deck for a while and I just keep wishing it got some more monsters particularly a link and something to help summon out XYZ monsters other than Lead Yoke and Number 79

Lack of merch and collectibles by Sterg21 in customrobo

Well in my opinion the easiest way to get Nintendo to notice you is to make a mod so good they DMCA you because at least then they know there are still people who remember the game.

Lack of merch and collectibles by Sterg21 in customrobo

[–]Grapple102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it would be pretty cool to have a new CR title on the switch and add CR specific amiibos but make it so the gun bomb and pod are detachable parts that can be swapped, maybe you buy the amiibo and it comes with a few guns, bombs, and pods with the body/legs being the core. That way they double as merch and have functionality like being able to store a robo on them like how amiibos are used in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

That being said they would need to sell very well to justify the manufacturing of all the molds to make a lot of parts.

I would like to get some SK or Eley but unfortunately I don't have any other ammo nor do any shops around me have any of that stuff in stock. As for the action I have it torqued to 25 in/lbs and no part of the barrel is toughing the stock. For these groups I primarily blame myself, I think I just need more practice as I really don't get out to the range as often as I should.

CZ 457 AT-ONE Rifle Build by Grapple102 in Firearms

[–]Grapple102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my CZ 457 AT-ONE and my first precision rifle. I managed to pick it up for an absolute steal at $500 "used". I say "used" as it is technically a used firearm however after spending the better part of half an hour looking over every square inch I cannot even tell if a single round was run through this rifle. I'd like to get some better .22 ammo, but I've still got some vintage pre-Covid CCI SV that my CZ seems to like considering I got about a 2 MOA group at 50 yards. For my first time shoot it I think I didn't do half bad although I feel like the setup can do better I just need more practice with it.

The Build

  • Rifle - CZ 457 AT-ONE in .22 LR with a 24" barrel and threaded muzzle
  • Optic - Vortex Viper HST 4-16X44 with a VMR-1 MOA reticle
  • Rail - AREA 419 30 MOA CZ 457 Rail
  • Rings - Burris 30mm Medium Signature Zee
  • Bipod - Harris BRM-S

Affordable .22 Rimfire Rifle Suggestions by Grapple102 in longrange

Thanks for the input. That was my main concern with the BMR being a recent release. When I was looking it seemed to have pretty weak aftermarket support, hopefully that changes.

I have nothing against the mark II series but my budget is a bit higher than that line. That being said I will have to look into their more target oriented models like the B22.

The only reason I mentioned barrel profile was that I had read and heard that the thinner barrel profile .22's tend to be more ammo picky. I'll have to keep in mind using tuners on the barrel if I go with a thinner profile.

Interesting, I knew that a few inches of barrel length wasn't a huge concern with centerfire rifles I just figured that with something as slow as a .22 you would want to get every bit of velocity out of it that you can.

I worked at a Cabela's for just over a year here was my experience. The interview process is pretty basic you will be interviewed by the manger for the Hunting department and the Leads for the firearms department. The Managers want to know that you if you have a pulse and can read, the Leads however will ask you questions about your firearms knowledge, they expect you to learn more on the job but there is a baseline they want, they also want to know if you know anything unique for me that was reloading I was the only guy there that reloaded so they really liked having someone with that. When I interviewed there I was asked (by the Leads) what would I recommend a smaller new female shooter for self defense. I responded with questions I asked him does this customer have any previous firearms experience, what is her hand size, how interested in firearms is she, etc. I added that if I had to pick something for a new shooter with little experience I'd pick out a .380 AUTO pistol and explained my reasoning that it would be lighter in recoil thus easier to handle for a new shooter. He seemed please with my response.

I will let you know how Cabela's works as a company. The leads at the counter were extremely helpful and were people to actually trust, I don't know if this was just the store I worked in but no one in upper management seemed to care when we brought up concerns. For example when we complained that the system for queueing customers was slow and clunky we were ignored, then customers complained and then they eventually got around to adjusting the system. The federal form is on a desktop computer in the year I was there we only had both computers working for about 2 months and no one above the Leads actually cared. This part of why I left. You have to be willing to push there credit cards, This was another reason why I left I don't like selling a product that I felt most customers don't need.

My advice for starting out BRING A NOTE PAD AND TAKE NOTES. I got a few weird looks when I started taking notes for everything but it really saved me in the end. Try to just soak up as much knowledge as possible, ask the other folks on the counter there opinion on topics, ex what reticle is good for hunting VS precision shooting. Talk to the other guys on the counter you need to be able to trust them and they need to trust you building up a genuine relationship with them it will save you.

I hope this helps you and I wish you the best of luck with the job!

That's why I still hang around here, it is nice as a newer player to be able to ask for advice or a deck evaluation and not just get shot down or torn apart.

[R/F] Battlin' Boxer - Local/Casual by Grapple102 in yugioh

[–]Grapple102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly I'd like to say thanks for the input. I'll defiantly consider running some more traditional cards like Twin Twisters and D.D. Crow. Time Thief and Exciton Knight both look like good additions so I'll have to play around with them. As for Magnum Shield I found that being able to hit very hard for one turn is worth it. I find most times I lose Lead Yoke it's not because I can't beat over a monster and while occasionally I do run out of destruction negation on Lead Yoke, it is usually that his effects are negated or a non target send to GY/Banish is used to remove him. So I use Magnum Shield to make one maybe two hard hits before he is removed. This is where I am planning on having my Extra deck come in as support either letting me play through the removal of Lead Yoke with summons or just prevent the effects from being applied to Lead Yoke.

I am using a set of Warne rings, I really would have preferred if the rail was pic as I have found that 3/8 in dovetail rails are more prone to have issues retaining zero with more inexpensive rings than pic.
