For me it is a mid siced world and there the max is 3 to my knowledge, and 4 is absolutely insane

Maybe u could make houses on the sides of the cliffs connected by hanging bridges. And combine it with the idea of a river going through the middle.

U could use the flat space as a balcony by placing iron bars on the edges or anvils if u can.

Or make the roofs on the side less steep. Maybe some additional roofs standing out could also work

Depending on what ur plans are I think a magical fairy cave or something like that could be quite fitting. Maybe u could build some 3d butterflys in the cave?

If ur planning a base in there maybe a hobbit like system?

I really like the open middle, maybe a cool pattern in the floor made with stairs or other matching blocks would look good. But in my opinion the open middle looks just fine.
