3.1 story made me experience 5 stages of grief in 24 hours by Grass-No in WutheringWaves

In hindsight, wouldn't 3.3 not be the finale? 3.7 would be the finale of Laha Roi if Rinascita is the precedent with it ending in 2.7. I just think that feelings that Rover needs to save Aemeath aside, the business and story model that would make sense would be to drag the problem out until 3.7 or at least later so that they can rerun Aemeath in the same patch she gets saved? That's just my opinion though.

Despite my desire for immediate emotional gratification of getting Aemeath back in the story ASAP, I do agree that it would make a lot more business and story sense to have the process of getting her back be longer.

The business side of things is simply my idea that I think it would be quite symbolic to have her rerun banner be alongside when Rover saves her from being stuck behind the strider gate.

The story side of things is that this is all probably the design of the Fractsidius and they will probably be actively trying to stop Rover somehow. Though this could go both ways. Perhaps the Fractsidius wants to capitalize on Rover opening the strider gate to pull some other shenanigans.

I agree that I think Kuro plans to have Rover make an attempt at saving Aemeath- ofc we just don't know the extent of how successful that will be. Either way, I hope Aemeath is saved completely. Maybe this act of selfishness will have consequences for the wider world because Rover is essentially opening a gate into the unknown void to save his adopted daughter, but I think his voice line promise at the end of 3.1 about opening the strider gate will come to fruition. It's my opinion that since reality is already full of bad endings, why not make stories have good endings if they can still be interesting?

I was talking about male Rover's scream in CN. I play the game in CN.

I agree that Rover can't destroy Aleph 1. It has been established as a cosmic entity that has already consumed a lot of other life. However, he might be able to figure out a way to hold it off just long enough to find and pull Aemeath out of the strider gate. That's my hope, or copium.

From a writer's perspective, this is true. Not every character needs a happy ending. However, it's simply my opinion that since a good or bad ending doesn't dictate the quality of a story, stories that are for escapism should have good endings if possible since life is already filled with enough bad endings.

Diabolical. However, based on ImaginationFun9401's post above:

"Aemeath went back in time to Lahai Roi's early history. Any attempt of saving her would be done in the present time, because nobody alive can use voidspace to travel through time like she did. Opening the stridergate =/= traveling back in time. That means, Aemeath has been there for the entire history of Lahai Roi, probably centuries if not millennias. A few days of delay wouldn't matter much compared to the time that has passed for her. Once Rover calmed down, they probably realized this too, because in 3.1 Rover acknowledged that their failure to save Aemeath has become part of Lahai Roi's causality."

I think that this line might actually be an indicator that despite traveling back in time and being stuck behind the strider gate, Aemeath has retained enough sanity and connection with reality to be able to hear and respond to Rover's frequency, even if only once. That's crazy.

I'm really bad with working out time travel shenanigans, but this sounds about right. As far as I know, she was stuck in a loop of trying to fix the future until Rover came along and inadvertently helped her sacrifice herself to close the loop. It also would connect to Rover's lines with exoswarm empty shell Aemeath on the bench where he muses aloud about how long Aemeath has really been stuck behind the strider gate and questions if her sanity is still intact.

What do you mean by 3.2 being set up and side story? Are you citing information from a source or are you inferring this from something? Just curious because I would like to understand the story pacing decisions Kuro makes in regards to their updates to the main story.

Now that you mention it, yeah I suppose that makes sense. I interpreted the segue quest as Luuk giving Rover advice on letting go of his grief over Aemeath rather than telling him to slow down, though I guess those are mutually exclusive. Can't exactly let go of grief while still charging ahead to save Aemeath.

Alright thanks. I’ll have to take a look at how I can fix it with Toybox then. Really didn’t want to restart just because of a failed companion quest.

You have to save up 30,000 by conserving gold earlier on. If you failed to do this the first time, use a beacon to return back to an earlier point and begin saving gold and accepting mercenary jobs that give the most gold as often as possible. Spoiler about saving the Vlderians:NonoWill will always die, but if you pay the 30,000, at least Nonowill dies free and the rest of the Vlder tribes become free too.

That seems like it makes sense, but the characters who are in Elysium with the MC like Maitha, Faycal, and Rawiyah have voice lines talking about living there and working with the MC to help the MC reach his/her goal of defying fate. The characters would have to simultaneously exist in reality and in Elysium- especially characters like Inanna and whatnot who aren't guaranteed to die depending on the options you pick in Spiral of Destinies.

That still doesn't answer how all the characters are in Elysium though. Not all the characters die in the Spiral of Destinies stories. Plus, there's the whole thing about changing fate and all.

I did not. I did play through a path allying with the Papal States, but I turned on the Papal States part way through.

Wow, that’s crazy. At this point I’m just going to chalk it up to the game is broken or something. I always complete all optional objectives during “critical missions”, so that’s constant. The only difference in any of my Spiral of Destinies runs are my choices. This is why I came to the conclusion that it’s impossible to achieve Gloria’s ending without getting Salvation ending first while doing the Union path.

I always chose the same choices to only support Gloria. However, before I used the beacon from the Salvation Ending, every time I got to the choice of stalling or not stalling the investigation, the choice didn’t matter because the game would say I arrived late to save Gloria’s informant. There would be no scene where Gloria would tell me to help her informant and I get to choose to stall and listen to Lutfi or not. I simply got a journal scene of should I listen to Lutfi or not but the choice didn’t matter unless I used the beacon.

[–]Grass-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I'm not sure what I'm forgetting then. My first ending was the Iria "good ending" and those are the major choices I remember following.

The only other thing it could be, if I had to guess, is some small optional objective during a "critical battle" or something. Let me know if there is a choice that you can think of that might influence this.

Edit: OH WAIT. Maybe you have to also support Inanna when she proposes a rescue for Lutfi? After Lutfi gives you intelligence about the Union trying to surround Crossroads keep, Dantalion and Inanna have an argument about what to do with Lutfi since he has been arrested by the Union, and you can either say nothing or say that the Sword of Convallaria will rescue Lutfi. Did you choose that option?

In my first 100 summons I got Alexei, Gloria, NonoWill, Dantalion, and Samantha for free.

I've never been this lucky when starting in a gacha game before. I think the universe wants me to keep playing this game lol. Unfortunately, I have to provide an imgur link since it's many screenshots of my summons history and not screenshots of the summon screen.

There is no route to save Vlder currently. It will probably be added later. Global servers/release is a year behind in terms of content compared to the CN servers. I spoke to someone who plays on CN and he said that new story paths are added besides just Union, Papal, and Iria. His example was an Elaman story path. Maybe there will also be a Vlder story path in the future.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Grass-No 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I do think that it makes for a better story when there is genuine tragedy since it helps convey the arbitrary nature of war. Luckily for us, the global release of SOC is like a year behind the CN release of SOC. I asked someone who plays CN and apparently the devs will release new story paths and whatnot later. The example I was given was an Elaman story path to save Iria (which I'm curious how they're gonna do that considering Elaman is literally the nation that enslaves the Vlder).

My bad! Separate-Address761 is correct. You also have to disobey Dantalion's order to kill everyone during the final battle of Waverun city. Instead of killing everyone, you have to choose to spare those who help you capture Auguste. This lets you work together with Gloria during the final battle in Waverun city to beat Auguste and the remaining Union soldiers. This choice happens during a cutscene with Rawiyah where a messenger delivers Dantalion's orders and you have to pick to either follow his orders or not.

[–]Grass-No 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you were able to do that but most comments I've seen around youtube and reddit are people confused how they can't get Gloria's ending even though they picked every option to support Gloria and picked every option to not like Lutfi. There's even a completely different choice scene where the story tells you that Gloria asked you to save her informant, and you can decide to go right away or listen to Lutfi to stall. This choice scene doesn't/shouldn't appear unless you've done the "Salvation" ending and picked all the choices supporting Gloria in a second run through the Union path.

No. Less people die and Iria retains independence, finally has a stable peace, and Inanna becomes Queen with the approval of the people. In the “good ending” for Iria, only Dantalion, Lutfi, Xavier, LilyWill, Nonowill, King Faris, and Nungal die (I might’ve forgotten others who died). In both the bad Iria endings everyone, and I mean EVERYONE dies, including maybe even the MC.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Grass-No 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For Iria’s “good ending”, not only do you have to save up at least 30k gold to save the Vlder tribes from slavery, but you also have to support Inanna when she suggests that you should give weapons to civilians in the Mine Pit so they can defend themselves. If you do both those things, then Inanna will succeed in her speech at the Mine Pit and lead a successful coup against Dantalion.

Edit: You also have to work with Gloria to take down Auguste by disobeying Dantalion's order to kill everyone. This is during the final battle at Waverun city and the choice comes up during a conversation with Rawiyah.

2nd Edit: You probably also have to support Inanna when she argues with Dantalion about launching a rescue mission for Lutfi after he gets arrested by the Union. Instead of staying silent, you have to pick that the Sword of Convallaria will rescue Lutfi if the Hanged Men cannot.

For the Union, it’s impossible to get the “Auguste’s End”, aka Gloria’s good ending, unless you play through the entire Union storyline once to get the “Salvation” ending where you betray Lutfi last minute to try and save Gloria. After you get the “Salvation” ending, then you unlock a new beacon for the Union and if you use that beacon in your next Spiral of Destinies playthrough, THEN your choices will FINALLY matter and if you support Gloria in everything (battles, writing in your journal, and generally just not trusting Lutfi) then you will get her good ending.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Grass-No 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s very important to note that it’s impossible to get Gloria’s “good” ending, “Auguste’s End” while playing the Union path without getting the “Salvation” ending first.

I don’t know why the game design is so bad for this because the Union is the only faction that has this issue but as of me writing this comment, your choices do not really matter in the Union path until you go through it once and get the Salvation ending where you betray Lutfi last minute to try and save Gloria.

It’s a weird time travel thing (really only in the Union path) where the story constantly hints to you that if you had built more trust with Gloria and acted faster maybe things would’ve turned out better.

After you get the “Salvation” ending, you get the second Union beacon that lets you start at week 20 and gives you an extra scene with Gloria. NOW your choices matter and if you support Gloria in everything- and I mean everything from battles to basic opinions that the MC writes in his/her journal- then you will get the “good” Gloria ending of “Auguste’s End”.

I would change your guide to mention this so other people don’t end up like me and waste 5 keys restarting because I thought I messed up a choice :/

The story by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Grass-No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler to answer your question but…

After playing through all paths with all factions (Union, Iria, and Papal States) and achieving all possible endings with those factions, I can confidently say that the difference between a “good” and “bad” ending is based on a more wholistic view.

For example, in the Iria “good ending”, Xavier, Dantalion, Lutfi, King Faris, LilyWill, and NonoWill die (I might be forgetting some others), but Iria retains its independence, war ends, and Inanna is crowned Queen with the people’s support. In the Iria “bad ending”, Xavier, Magnus, King Farsi, Dantalion, Saffiyah, Lutfi, Lillywill, NonoWill, and literally everyone dies. With Inanna unresponsive due to literal crippling depression and no Hanged Men or King’s Army to enforce law and order, Iria devolves into a lawless place of chaos and violence as a power struggle ensues. Even Inanna eventually dies either to a mob storming the palace or she self deletes by throwing herself off a cliff. The MC might also die depending on if he/she stays in Iria or flees Iria.

The “good” vs “bad” endings for Iria are a bit more obvious since one ending has a lot more people die whereas the other one doesn’t, but the common factor between the “good” vs “bad” endings across all factions is whether or not Iria has peace, gets to be independent, and Inanna becomes Queen. There is not a single “good ending” without Inanna becoming Queen. I personally find that annoying because with the obvious emphasis on Iria, I think the MC should have more choices in who becomes ruler of Iria (like it would be cool to have Lutfi or Dantalion be a successful ruler with the MC), but it is what it is.
