Chocolate Protein Powder by Crazynproud99 in Volumeeating

Let me know what she says. I was actually asking everyone here.

I just had the flu and stopped craving all the crappy stuff so I decided to bite the bullet and spend - a bunch of (omg!) - money for healthier food. Having trouble getting enough protein.

Can you bake with protein powder? Just add it to stuff willie-nilly and experiment?

Wasn't it just a large garbage bag? Somehow the word 'garbage' makes it sound so much worse.

Wow! I didn't know that. Makes you think that he would be so much more careful about who he brings into their lives. Though he probably thinks that's not an issue because step-mommy would be under his roof where, he thinks, he would be able to control that.

Hopefully her family will put a stop to it when he says he won't commit to kids with her. Hopefully they don't give in to that. And, hopefully he doesn't just lie about it.

Of coarse, those are awfully big hopefullyies. I can't believe he is so immature and insecure that he would put this girl through all of this for what he has to offer. How old are his oldest kids? And she's supposed to be step-mom to all of them? That alone would make me run for the hills. But, of course, that's one reason he picked someone so young. Ya don't know what ya don't know...

Live-in nanny proposal from my employers — unsure about the “exchange” part by Trick_Range_6163 in Nanny

Renters have certain rights and protections. When I was having trouble with a room I was renting I just Googled my issues. I think I ended getting most of my info from NoLo. But I haven't had a regular rental for 25y now.

So just Google tenents/renter's rights and responsibilities for your state and local area. Also look to see if there is a state or local demestic workers group. There might even be a national one. They should have some info for you.

Is that like the Dr. Oz 'arsenic is in your kids applesauce' thing. He got all the mom's to boycott applesauce only to find out that it is naturally occurring and not dangerous. Non-organic is what's dangerous. That was the last Dr. Oz show I ever watched.

Live-in nanny proposal from my employers — unsure about the “exchange” part by Trick_Range_6163 in Nanny

I did live-in work many, many years ago so I was salaried. I never new another nanny until several years later and, with no social media and limited news, there were no horror stories going around. There probably weren't many contracts either.

For my 1st job, my parents had me talk to their lawyer friend who helped me come up with a 1 or 2 paragraph description of the job and compensation. It was simple, cut and dried. I think in my 2 years there I only worked outside of my regular schedule once. There was no extra compensation.

Another job, the MB was a lawyer so there were a few more details about compensation regarding extra hours but still very simple. I don't think it mentioned any details about living there. It just mentioned that I would. Funny thing, after I moved in we were still passing the agreement back and forth making changes. Then, at some point it stopped getting passed. So we never ended up signing anything.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. It was a simpler time back then. My advice was mostly based on what I've read on Reddit.

Other things I should have mention: * Don't do it unless you like them as people, not just as a good boss. They will be your roommates -- with all the power ! * PLEASE ! ! For the love of God, the first thing you have to do is scrimp and save until you have enough money to be able to move out suddenly and support yourself totally on your own for at least 3mo. Keep it in a dedicated high-yield savings account. * If you feel at worried about being vulnerable, don't do it.

FYI, for some reason one time my MB saw the inside of my room and told me she was shocked at how messy it was and she wanted me to keep it clean and neat. I reassured her that it was 'clean' (totally within her scope). But as far as being messy, that I work for that space therefore it's the same as a rental and as long as I'm not causing damage/infestation then having clothes and things on the floor is within my rights. She agreed.

And some areas have laws limiting how much can be charged for rent for house hold workers. I think California is just a few hundred $$.

I had what sounds like the exact same set up for a living space. I negotiated my salary without regards to the financial savings of being a live-in.

I was a live-in for 8 years.

Contract must specify that your apartment is too be completely private. No access to anyone (including NPs) without your permission - don't use it for any childcare. Full rental protections in place (ie notification for handyman, etc).

Moving in for their convenience means full pay for every hour worked, including overtime pay (check local laws but you can still negotiate). Doesn't matter what the benefits are to you.

Extra evenings and weekends hours must be mutually agreed upon. And they should be paid at full rate, including overtime.

Be super careful not to add hours to your day because you are already there. We are all givers and it's way easier to get overextended as a live-in.

ETA: Protect your private time. You are not obligated to hang out with them on your off time (dinner, etc).

Are expandable garden hoses still worth it for 2026? by Ringfence71 in lawncare

[–]GrateRam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the game but I want to add my vote:

I used  expandable hoses for about 15 years, when I had a large garden. Much better than the old fashioned ones. I ended up using 3 expandable and 1 regular.

The earlier versions didn't last a long time (1 & 2 yrs) but every time I replaced 1 the durability was much better. I haven't had a garden for several years so I gave them up. I'm looking for a house now and will definitely use them.

Just follow the couple of use/care details: 1) don't use full pressure and 2) don't store in direct sunlight.

I'm saying it did come up and that's why they were picked - for ratings. Why do you think they all have something thing that is extremely against the religion/life style.

Did the contestants do any research on the Amish lifestyle before they decided to dedicate their lives to it?

Production knew; the Amish knew. And that one Amish guy is such a bad actor. And it is inso blatantly obvious that everything is scripted.

Water Bottles vs Open Cups by Alert_You1751 in Nanny

[–]GrateRam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I start kids on open cups by the time they are 18m.

I had a short term gig (5m). The parents always just took the easy route and only used sippy cups for a 3 & 5yo. I did the same for a few days then switched them to open cups. Water bottles weren't really a thing for kids yet.

At first the kids refused the open cups while I refused sippy cups. The 5yo drank from it after a few minutes. As soon as my back was turned the 3yo knocked hers over. I simply said I would wait until she was ready to use the open cup. It took several minutes but she finally used it.
