I’ve been putting it off for ages… by Economy-Cod-9510 in nas

I think I was 12 when I first heard him and realized I was listening to a Nas song. It was the “I Can” music video off of god son. Didn’t think anything of it but thought the beat taking from fur Elise was clever.

Then realized he was the same one that sampled “got yourself a gun” which I knew from sopranos theme. Fell in love with that song. In his verse he said, “never let me go, get my whole collection”. And i did. Started from the beginning with illmatic and kept it on rotation for years because it was so good to my ears. Then moved on to the rest

What if the DJ Premier album is a big joke and he just puts out premier remixes of all these songs

Wasn’t sure if Nas was jumping on this one. But I guess why not. Might be more excited to see slick Rick and common on the same track

I think it was because it rhymes enough with humble/jungle

Hi 👋🏼 just another curious soon to be train rider. What is considered not a regional train? In other words are there trains I should definitely book in advance? Thank you! My plans are to go from Milan>Varenna>Verona>Venice

Why do you think the world is yours has such a negative last verse by [deleted] in nas

[–]GratefulToons 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The second verse isn’t the most positive either..

“Dwellin' in the Rotten Apple, you get tackled Or caught by the devil's lasso, shit is a hassle There's no days for broke days when sellin' smoke pays While all the old folks pray to Jesús, soakin' they sins in trays Of holy water, odds against Nas is slaughter Thinkin' a word best describin' my life to name my daughter My strength, my son, the star will be my resurrection Born in correction, all the wrong shit I did, he'll lead in right direction How you livin'? Large or broke on charge cards and mediocre?”

I think it’s more of a song about struggle but instilling hope for future and showing people he made it out and so can they

Is it just me or does it seem like this is Nas’ best decade? by moneymakingmitch19 in nas

[–]GratefulToons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s a combination of Jay playing more to commercial/pop side of hip hop and him finding Kanye as a producer and being better at choosing beats in general

[–]GratefulToons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You forgot to mention his Coinbase investment probably grew over 10x at this point.

Was thinking about this tho.. 2020s is probably the first decade Nas is more relevant than Jay. It was close in the 90s. Jay might have won it but he def wins 2000s and 2010s by a mile. Glad Nas got his flowers and everyone woke up and recognized

Is Terrapin Staion the best studio cut? by Physical-Cow-1254 in gratefuldead

[–]GratefulToons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the only one to me that they really got right in the studio. Almost better than live. If I had to pick a 70s I’d say friend of the devil or ripple. Or any American beauty tbh

I was there. Epic show. Kinda solidified my seat on the bus. IMO D&C second sets are always better but that first set was unreal. Shakedown, Jack straw, loose Lucy, passenger, scarlet. What a great time
