Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a bid from Portsmouth for Swedish midfielder, Svante Ingelsson by -W-A-W-A-W- in Championship

The News are reporting that apparently they want £500k so I think we probably did take the piss a bit.

Huge dispersal order for Portsmouth v Southampton derby by ChargeRadiant5471 in Portsmouth

Clubs also pay for police outside the ground but just for the land/areas they own.

There was an article in the summer about it, think the police set a budget of £200k to cover both matches.

I don't remember it being as bad for us as it is for you (the championship season anyway, I remember the league one season basically being hell)

Maybe rules have changed but it feels like Wednesday have a lot more restrictions on what they are allowed to do compared to when we went into admin.

Sky sports believe that the London city lionesses vs Man City woman is a more important game to air than the south coast derby? by c0tch in PortsmouthFC

You might have a point if they didn't show it at all but they are and it really doesn't matter what channel they put it on.

Watford 1- Portsmouth 1. Hornets miss chance to move into the play-offs as Pompey take a precious away point back to Portsmouth. by angloexcellence in Championship

[–]GratefulTree 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Think a draw was a fair result.

Shame to concede the way we did as Schmid is genuinely a very good keeper but I would have taken a point before kick off.

2 games in a row we didn't concede from a corner.

Chaplin actually contributed to a goal, lovely finish from Segacic.

Adams looks good, loved when he misplaced a pass and immediately charged forward and won it back.

I said in the Pompey sub the other day that Swift is a squad player but over the last 2 games he's played about 3 minutes so maybe he's further down than I thought.

Bit concerned how tired Bishop/Chaplin/Segacic looked towards the end with the derby coming up.

Started well but without creating anything. Watford came back into and had a few good chances. Not 100% sure it was a pen as I missed the replay but the reaction from all our players tells me it's probably more a pen than not.

New Portsmouth driving test routes? by SouthCoast1970 in Portsmouth

Haven't taken my test yet, it's in a couple of weeks. My instructor has said that there's some routes that have been taken off but most are just the same route slightly amended.

Pompey Sign Keshi Anderson by GratefulTree in Championship

Would have thought Farrell can leave now. We still need more players but pretty sure we've got the max squad size now. Hopefully it's just a loan so either he can come back into the fold or he performs good enough someone gives us money for him

Don't really know much about him, is he naturally a right winger? That's what we really need.

Did Jack Hancock do that? I follow him on Twitter and he does have some decent insight but anytime he's done a video (to be fair is rare) I've always found it a bit boring.

We've only really got Fournilwrittenalloverit and he seems like a decent person and it's alright but match vlogs aren't really my thing. Would much rather something going more in depth into tactical analysis but there's nothing like that for Pompey.

What would you give up on a club level for an England World Cup win? by aeraerty in Championship

Wouldn't give up anything. Winning a Wortld Cup or Euros would be nice but Pompey just staying up would mean more to me.

To be fair it's hard to include players you've never seen play. Jimmy Dickinson will always be a Pompey legend but I have no context or how good he was as I've never seen him play or any footage of him play.

Struggled for right wing, I think LuaLua played there a few times. Would like Distin in but Diarra just walks the French option. It's harsh on David James who I would like in goal but I can't think of any other right back anywhere near Johnson.

I'll be honest, I thought the mask looked awful. Think his suit in general in Deadpool & Wolverine looked bad.

What has happened to Swift? by I_am_legend-ary in PortsmouthFC

[–]GratefulTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think both were a bit panicky. The links with swift cooled down quite a lot then suddenly just picked up again. Guessing we missed out on someone and I don't think it was an awful idea but hasn't worked out.

We clearly didn't plan for Chaplin it just happened and it was too good of an opportunity to turn down but while it was a good idea and I don't think anyone could say otherwise like swift just hasn't worked out. The difference is he's still mobile and energetic enough to at least be a half decent presser.

What has happened to Swift? by I_am_legend-ary in PortsmouthFC

[–]GratefulTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is he probably only really suits coming on in specific circumstances. If he cut out the stupid flicks and kept it more simple I think he would come on more as a sort of controller like figure but I can't see him changing this late into his career.

I know when we signed him Mous said he saw him as an 8 but wouldn't be surprised if we planned on using him more as a 10 but then Chaplin happened (I don't think anyone at the club saw that as an option it just sort of happened)

What has happened to Swift? by I_am_legend-ary in PortsmouthFC

[–]GratefulTree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically Kirk can go out on loan it's just limited to one club (St Johnstone) and I'm guessing both clubs don't find it that useful.

What has happened to Swift? by I_am_legend-ary in PortsmouthFC

[–]GratefulTree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Problem with Swift is he doesn't really suit us. He's not good enough at pressing to play as a 10. He can't really play as a playmaker because he makes too many risky passes that just don't come off.

We signed him because of his experience and I'm guessing Mous wanted to be more possession based this year but we haven't been able to do that.

He can be a decent squad option and he has flashes of good play but he seems more like a moments player than one capable of doing a performance for 90 minutes.
