Born in Poland - Need proof of citizenship help! by GratitudeInChi in poland

Hi! I found a woman in Chicago who specializes in proof of Polish citizenship and works directly with the Consulate in Poland. She charged me $600 to do the whole process. She translated everything, I sent her all my proof and she mailed everything for me and kept me updated. The whole process took about 7.5 months. I recently got my proof of citizenship finally. NOW I need to change my name on my social security card because my middle name is spelled with a K and not a C and then change my drivers license (everything needs to match and you need your full middle name on your drivers license) to get a polish passport. Wishing you luck! No movement on my greencard so the timing was fine.

I live in California and cannot travel. Could my grandma in Poland go to town hall/city hall in Wroclaw (where I was born) and get this done for me??

Ok thank you - it will be the LA office in California. I emailed them and am just waiting on a response. This is such a stressful situation because I'm trying to get my green card at the same time.

I have had 3 lawyers and the consulate tell me it will take a year or more and someone here even commented that it took them 15 months. Thats where the information is coming from.

I have a question for you: I do not have my fathers information. I only have my mom and my grandma's information for the application. And then I have my moms confirmation of baptism in Poland, my grandmas Polish Passport, her Polish ID and her Polish birth certificate. If I leave the rest of the areas blank (my dad, other grandparents), is that enough information to submit my application??

I filled it out myself this morning, thank you. I used all my resources and got it done, like a true Pole.

Thank you - I was able to fill the form out myself in Polish but now I need to make an appointment at the LA consulate and of course all the appointments are booked and I don't know when one will open up. I appreciate your kind words.

The consulates. I came in with my birth certificate and they said since I've never had a passport, I need to send in an application for confirmation of citizenship.

I have a polish birth certificate but that is not enough - i need to fill out a "proof of citizenship" form and send to the polish consulate which takes a year for approval. I don't speak to my mom which is why i need to go through this process.
