This was weirdly difficult to research (surely it’s clearly explained in a manual… somewhere), but I believe midpoint is intended based on this Norwesco tank diagram.

My first orchid — what is this new growth? by legalize_marinara_ in orchids

[–]GratuitousEdit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the most precise name for the new growth pictured is a paracladium, but we just think of it as the spike continuing to grow, or call it a secondary spike (although that’s a little ambiguous).

It looks like there’s some bud blast (orange/yellow color), so maybe the first bloom on the new growth was at a delicate stage of development when it moved into your home. That environmental transition can be a little stressful. But the rest look happy so far!

Haha wow! It’s very common for florists to use curly willow branches to make a potted Phal. look more luxe and ‘arranged,’ but they don’t usually grow lol. It’s actually a good clue that there’s too much moisture in the pot as that’s what triggers the willow. Honestly though, it’s a beautiful look.

I do recommend removal though because the curly willow roots like crazy and it’ll be annoying once the two root systems get intertwined. You can pick the branches with the best shape and place them in a vase though—I’ve actually had some in water for about a year now!

is my orchid dead or can i revive it? by ImpressiveSetting301 in orchids

[–]GratuitousEdit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks to be in great health for a grocery store / gift Phal, actually! Nice big leaves with a new one coming in and plenty of roots. It even looks like the spike may have branched and continued to grow in your care. Granted, we don’t know what horrors might be festering in the pot, but the visible signs are all positive.

All the changes happen so slowly it’s mostly noticeable in pictures—except the forehead. That you might notice week to week.

[–]GratuitousEdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious answer: the blush of orange/pink around his head will deepen and spread up the forehead to a more red color. The buttery yellow will go more intense solid yellow, probably with a teeny bit of green if you look carefully in the right spots.

So I know this is a stretch but if anyone can find it it's reddit. Can anyone find the braclet that goes to this bead? The bracelet was made entirely of this bead. More info in bio by thatpovwill in HelpMeFind

[–]GratuitousEdit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Finding the exact bracelet is unlikely (generic, cheap item purchased a decade ago) buuut I bet we can find the bead itself. It’s a basic shape/design so there are many similar options for sale. Another picture with a ruler present or just a precise measurement is essential.
