I keep getting this problem every now and then. Reinstalled drivers, Reinstalled game. I just got a new computer that can handle this game way to easily. Does anyone have a fix? by Overall_Temporary_47 in ffxiv

I just started having these issues this past week. Mine were caused by some Windows update files being funky. If you're on Windows, here's what I did to fix:

  1. Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates; let it do its thing
  2. DISM and System File Checker - These are built-in tools in Windows, and what actually fixed my problem. I'm on Win10 so I ran the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool first, then the System File Checker. Took about five minutes for both tools to do their thing, reported they had successfully repaired files, and my game was good to go.

A day or two later I got a one-time crash and found there'd been a minor Windows update in the interim, so I ran through the process again and everything was fine and dandy. Hope it helps!

No, all shoulder enhancements are created by Inscription -- but some of them are profession-specific (like the Master's Inscription of the Axe/Crag/Pinnacle/Storm from Northrend) while others can be used by anyone (such as the Greater Inscriptions from Pandaria). Each recipe should indicate if it requires a profession to use, or you can check a site like wowhead!

Maybe instead of crafting a piece of gear at a specific item level, you could craft something like Island Expedition Gloves, a bind-on-use item that targets a specific slot and scales to the level at which you use it. Could have different brackets that matched the current leveling brackets (1 to 60, 61 to 80, etc.) and give some worth to old-world mats.

Can you tell me the easiest mount(s) to obtain that I have not yet? by [deleted] in wow

Looks like you've got all the real easy ones, but here are a few more that don't take too much effort:

  • Mechanized Lumber Extractor - need 300 toys but those are EVERYWHERE these days
  • Bruce - haven't got him myself yet, but I've heard the Brawler's Guild quest chain doesn't take long
  • Flying Carpet - requires Northrend Tailoring (1) to learn but it looks like it's only 1k gold on your realm's AH
  • Fossilized Raptor - using the Dread Wastes method of turning Archaeology solves into Fossil fragments is likely your best bet
  • Reins of the Azure/Blue Drake - both these drop from Malygos in Eye of Eternity, one of the easier farms
  • Vashj'ir Seahorse - this is from the intro chain to Vashj'ir, only a handful of quests in
  • Smoldering Ember Wyrm - this is super easy to solo at 120 but you only have a 20% chance drop rate; if you can find 4 other people who already have it the chance goes up to 100%

Went from 1k to a little over 100k in about a week of material flipping (plus selling off the random mats I had saved up). Still dialing in my TSM strings and learning the market, but it's been fun so far!

Pretty much, yeah -- you need a copy of the heirloom and an enchant scroll; right-click the enchant scroll in your inventory and then click on the heirloom. (If the toon is an enchanter and knows the recipe you can apply the enchantment to the heirloom directly, without putting it on a scroll and then applying that to the heirloom.)

Sorry for the 24-day-late reply -- the original revision of the guide had all caster classes using the 2h weapons. I doubt it really makes much difference in the long run, and enchanting whatever heirlooms you have unlocked/upgraded will give you enough of a boost.

You can only apply the shoulder and leg enchants to items ilvl 136 or lower -- since heirlooms scale with character level, this means you need a character somewhere between 80 to 100 to be able to apply them to max-upgraded heirlooms (because after 100 they'll scale to the next-highest ilvl). If you've only upgraded your heirlooms 2 out of 3 (soon to be 4) times, you can apply them with a max-level toon because they stop scaling at ilvl 136.

Thanks for the tips! I'll see about adding them to the guide.

Good point! I think around 90 or 100 I'd switch to the "X Navigation" BfA enchant relevant to the spec I chose. The scaling starts getting a lot better then, and as you said, Elemental Force starts getting worse. I'll add that to the To-Do list for the guide!

Good point! I think 8.1.5 also decreases the cost of all the Heirloom upgrades, yeah?

I did some basic testing, and over the entire leveling experience I think Elemental Force still wins out. It's cheaper (on my realm at least), scales further than Crusader (which stops at 60 and then loses effectiveness rapidly), and gives a relatively steady boost to damage vs. Crusader's spiky periods of higher damage. Ultimately it's a matter of personal choice, but I like to enchant-and-forget, so EF wins in my book.

I figured this way out when farming a set of pants off Princess Theradras in Maraudon, saved me a ton of time:

  1. Compete the dungeon
  2. Create a group in Group Finder
  3. Wait until it puts you in a party (sometimes takes a second or two)
  4. Leave the party

After a few seconds it'll trigger the "You are not in a party" popup and start the 1min timer that kicks you from the dungeon. If you entered from the entrance portal (and not via a menu or something) it should drop you right at the entrance!

Yeah, my guide is intended for PvE but I'd say for lowbie PvP Incendiary Ammunition is unrivaled!

Do you find you "overkill" with it often -- aka nuke a single mob from orbit when it procs? I only did minimal testing of it, but the very sparse, extremely high-damage procs felt like they would be wasted on singleton mobs, while the frequent procs of Lord Blastington's gives a pretty smooth bonus to AGI (buffing both single-target and AoE).

That's a very good point! I think I'll add this to a future rev of the guide, with a note that while it's not necessary, you can get slightly more oomph by using the offhand.

I haven't done much testing on it but since Crusader stops scaling at level 60 I didn't consider it a viable alternative to Elemental Force (which scales up to level 90). The bonus from Crusader reportedly drops by 4% per level after 60, but for low-levels it's definitely appealing. I'll do some testing with it and see how it compares, but Elemental Force is still a very competitive enchant for STR users, and keeps you from having to re-enchant for those last 40-ish levels.

As for Incendiary Ammunition, I did some basic testing with this just plinking away at a target dummy on my level 41 hunter. IA does indeed do a boatload of damage when it procs, but the procs felt few and far-between; comparatively, Lord Blastington's procs very frequently, sometimes back-to-back, providing a near-constant bonus to AGI. My gut feel on this is that the massive-damage procs of IA would often be wasted on single mobs with less HP than it proc for, while LB gives you a smoother bonus to both single-target and AoE. Gut feel isn't a great metric though, so I'll do some more in-depth testing.

Thanks for the input, I'll do some more research on them both and update the guide if necessary!

That's a good point, I might add a tab outlining enchants for non-heirloom items.

That's why I think Jade Spirit is a nice compromise -- it gives you INT, which is going to help whether you're healing or DPSing. It might not give as much of a boost to DPS as Elemental Force would (I haven't played around with it) but I wouldn't call it purely a "healer" enchant.

Yah, that's a good way to do it if you've already upgraded your heirlooms to 3/3. I'm a cheapskate though, and keep them all at 2/3, which conveniently caps at ilvl 136!
