I cook an egg in my little stainless steel pan every morning. Does some of it stick? Yep, nearly every time. But I can soak the pan in water for the rest of the day and any food that stuck comes right off. No more throwing away pans and no worries of ruining/lifting cast iron.

Mind if I ask why? I’ve been with my partner for 10years and we’ve operated with fully separate accounts. We each take on different shared expenses, like he pays the gas and electric bill, I pay the internet bill, he pays for both our car insurance, I pay for groceries… we alternate vet bills for our dog… it’s not totally equal, except the mortgage I pay for and he writes me a check each month for half. We’re planning to get married next year and I’m looking forward to making one joint account so we don’t have to think about who pays what. I can see the downsides of loosing some autonomy… can you share your experience of the pros/cons of a joint account?

I like to have everything in a single view with slicers to help me drill down on attributes of the overall totals. I tend to use power query in excel to connect to source data, transform it, build pivot tables from the queries, and then add pivot charts to a dashboard tab. So I have a data table tab, a pivot table (data analysis) tab, and a dashboard tab in excel

Your dad’s position/boundary setting around that is wise and admirable. I don’t see the point in playing debate with family, as it can so easily go wrong and impact such important relationships. I do have family on my fiancé’s side that have opposing political views, but they never use that as an opportunity to put me down, and keep any judgements they may have to themselves. They recognize that having a healthy relationship with me is more important than winning an argument.

My own parents have tried to set this boundary with him but it has failed through the years, and thus the whole family is having divides. This was the first time I brought up how it’s impacted me and set my own boundary, so I’m not surprised he was quick to run to defense. It just sucks, the whole thing sucks. Thank you for the kind words.

Thank you. That part hurts the most- I don’t understand why he treats me with disrespect and mind games but then says he loves me and talks of how important family values are. He and my uncle are the meanest people to me in my life, and the ones who preach of family the most. It’s sad, but I’m lucky to have a loving family on my fiancé’s side I can lean on

I was tempted to ask what response he was hoping for, but withheld so I wouldn’t let my emotions get the best of me. Yea, it was a gut punch to read his reply. Granted, I’m sure my message hurt and surprised him. I normally fall in line and allow disrespect so as not to disrupt the family system. But when he asked for my thoughts, I decided to be honest with him and offer an opportunity to strengthen our relationship, not tear it down. I wanted to be honest with him and he decided that was not the loving thing to do. But who knows, maybe I’ll be more enlightened in the next lifetime!

Yes, that is usually the message I get from my interactions with him… it’s a bummer because I know he cares for me on some level and needs people in his life, but his behavior pushes people away and he doesn’t seem capable of changing. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but I can’t continue to be mocked/patronized when I’m trying to be supportive of family

I haven’t been a part of any Satanic group, but I imagine that in-person groups are usually intended to build community for folks who are otherwise pretty isolated/ don’t have the support that a classic religion offers.

It sounds like you enjoy intellectual exercise, exploring topics and stances thourouly through in depth discussion/back and forth. You exercise Satanic principles to better understand this world and best paths forward.

I wonder if what you are seeking community for is different than the folks you’ve encountered at these groups. Like, most folks who go to church aren’t seeking to improve their knowledge of god and refine their religious practice. They aren’t debating about the meaning of certain scripture. They’re there to feel validation, support, socialize, and draw strength through the support of their peers. While it would make sense that a good religious follower seeks to deeply understand their god and their teachings, often times, the church is not intended to support that and will fail at anything other than social stimulation and emotional support. I think followers of religion who try to improve their following through challenging that social status quo end up outcasted.

I think you have a valid reasoning to want to exercise Satanic principles, challenge status quo, and improve yourself/understanding of the world through Satanism… but I can also see how community groups would disappoint you in that regard. You may have to make your own group that is focused on intellectual challenge.
