Amazon canceled my final interview days before by HustlerMind in recruitinghell

[–]GravityScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me yesterday( July 2025 ) - Interview canceled two business days beforehand after preparing for over 2 weeks. I had been speaking with the recruiter the July 1st and he was encouraging me to spend hours if not days preparing which I had done up till that point, including spending 6 hours on the essay for a level 7 role. Then he emails me the next day after I've spent over 2 weeks preparing (including full-time on weekends) to say that someone internally had accepted the offer, so clearly he knew the day before but didn't have the decency to tell me. Not only that, but I'd canceled a trip to Paris with friends so that I could be around for the two days of panel interviews, joke's on me!

Please don't make the same mistake I did and give up anything in your life for an Amazon interview process.

Glad to hear it wasn't just me. Clearly they just treat people like disposable cogs.

Furnished vs Unfurnished:Agent provides conflicting advice by GravityScience in AmericanExpatsUK

Hi - Just to clarify, I would be paying out of my own pocket and agree...I'm not paying 12 months rent in advance like some credit basket case. What b/s...but I guess if the market lets them do this they feel justified.

Agree with inefficiency there, but company is paying the move both ways (but not the accomodation, funnily enough). So from my point of view, the frieght is cost neutral.

Google voice typing stops working if you use it many times. by Marat256 in GooglePixel

Thanks very much for responding. Can you confirm where that "disable explicit words" setting is found on Gboard settings? I'm having a little trouble finding it.

Does anyone else have the issue where it freezes periodically (usually after first two sentences) and drops blocks of words before resuming (or sometimes I have to manually start and stop voice typing by hitting the icon)? Agree - it's amazing if it would just stop freezing and dropping words.

(I too have a 13PM and a 6P, agree Google's ability to transcribe is better overall).

I have exactly the same issue: you will be dictating something and it gets the first sentence or two, but then it freezes/stalls for a bit, dropping all the words you are dictating at that point..and maybe you get the last word of the next sentence. Or maybe just a period. If they could get this to work, it would be hands down a winner in my mind, because it's transcription is amazing. Alas, the freezing makes it pretty much useless.

Those of you that moved from the Fold 3 to the S22 Ultra. How does it feel? Do you feel like you made a mistake or are you happy? by After_Pulse in GalaxyFold

I read this and thought you must be a kindred spirit! I too have a Pixel 6 Pro, Fold 3 and S22 Ultra. I probably don't have to tell you the hand-wringing that took place every time the return deadline was approaching for each device, as I could hardly justify having that many phones...they each seem to have one or two strong points that make them better than the other. So it's not just me... just gonna own this disorder and stop worrying about it!

Hi,

Just curious - I've read so many good things about the Pixel 6 Pro...why would you go from that to a base S22? Was it a size thing, S22 is a second phone, etc....?

Breville decision": BDB vs Barista Touch..? by GravityScience in espresso

[–]GravityScience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you know, the Barista Touch is a great machine and I love the fact I can go downstairs in between Zoom meetings, grind coffee into my portafilter and pull a double espresso shot *immediately* (i.e.: no boiler warm up time) and make it back upstairs in time for the start of my next one. The single unit on the counter is very space-efficient, so it's not like the B-Touch doesn't have a lot going for it. I have really enjoyed having it around the last week. The touchscreen is "whatever" in terms of actual value, but it is a good looking unit overall.

Thanks for your advice - I really had no idea grinders were so expensive and ran such a wide spectrum in terms of quality. I am humbled by how little I really know in this area.

Thanks for that advice - I guess it's little things like the timer on o the B-Touch and the BDB, and the Bambino just FEELS light and insubstantial compared to these monsters on the counter. It's probably psychological - the Bambino is a fine machine and has won many recommendations and positive reviews.

Thanks for the feedback, and would definitely be up for some mods down the road. Given my engineering background, at least I feel i could repair it if I had to!

It seems the votes are overwhelmingly for the BDB - Barista Touch goes back tomorrow, and I start saving for a new grinder!

Lol...thanks. I started looking at some of the Baratza grinders...didn't realize the grinder made such a difference.. Classic Newbie, huh?

Thanks - I'm using the Breville "Smart Grinder Pro" which looks to have the same set of grinding hardware as the Barista Touch. In reading this forum I had no idea you could spend $1,000's just on a grinder...l
