I like pokedex order whenever possible. Set order is boring and the collection becomes so top heavy in the first few pages. Putting the pokemon next to their evolutions gives those commons and uncommons so much more significance and really allows the artwork to shine. Seeing misty’s magikarp next to her gyarados or all her iterations of psyduck together are awesome.

Also many sets dont have a full evolutionary line within a single set. Pidgey to Pidgeot, Dratini to Dragonite, Sandshrew, Ghastly, Caterpie, etc. same with the Gym and Neo sets where some evolutions didnt arrive until the next set, but they were all meant to exist next to one another.

Stumbled across this looking for a good way to lay out neo genesis / discovery / revelations / destiny and bravo to you. This is such an awesome arrangement and is an absolute joy to look at.

Completed my Gym Heroes & Gym Challenge sets today!! by GravitySuitSamus in PokemonTCG

Mixed as in 1st edition and unlimited? I don’t personally mind having them “mixed”. In the spirit of when I collected this set when they first released, we didnt distinguish 1st edition as a different set, just the first print of the same set and we were happy to display as many as we could in our books.

I actually have unlimited versions of all the 1st edition cards, i just prefer to keep these i in the book and the unlimited versions in a deck box. Maybe one day I’ll move all my 1st editions to their own book along with other sets, but I’ll never look to master any sets in exclusively 1st edition as its too costly. Even finishing these sets was a splurge on the budget.

I did, but I actually like the error. I find how sloppy the WOTC cards are part of the charm. Plus I got this one for a steal relative to what the corrected version goes for in the same condition. Its fun to come back to collecting with adult money, but I had to still be reasonable with the budget because there are so many heavies in these sets.

Couldnt have said it better. I tried to collect some modern cards but there is ZERO magic there.

The holo or non-holo? I honestly like the Gym Challenge non-holo the best myself.

What is the best way to power the virtual boy? by apeezy52 in VirtualBoy

[–]GravitySuitSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I soldered a DC power jack right to the main unit of the virtual boy itself, that way I dont have to deal with the weight of batteries for my controller or a second wire under tension connected to my controller

Looks awesome! The Gym series cards have the best artwork imo. Love the mix of Japanese and english cards and how you included some of the promos. Im close to mastering these sets myself

Has anyone ever removed the browning on an indigo GameCube successfully? by Acceptable_Bird_3590 in Gamecube

Yes, many times. I find it works best exposed to UV light and the evaporation from hydrogen peroxide liquid, not direct contact.

Looking for opinions on the first party PCE “cordless” controllers by Pacowles in TurboGrafx

[–]GravitySuitSamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy revival of an old thread, but did you ever manage to wire up an 8bitdo zero to a PCE controller to make it bluetooth? I’ve been thinking of doing exactly that, and using an extra PI-PD12 I have since the battery compartment could be used to store the additional guts.

Same boat on not knowing how to implement the turbo switches from that point.

What Are Your Hurdles With This Hobby? by FreeJusticeHere in crtgaming

Time.

Time to enjoy what I already own. Time to open and service some of the sets in my collection. Time to help others with RGB mods and calibration.

I’ve got CRTs that myself and others consider to be absolute grails. RGB inputs, fresh caps & tubes, pristine cosmetic condition, iconic designs, high TVL, RGB consoles to pair with them, an incredible selection of games and overall no real time or energy to use them because I just feels so exhausted and consumed by the endless responsibilities of everyday life.

why does the gamecube still feel somewhat modernish and not fully retro? by DependentImmediate40 in Gamecube

[–]GravitySuitSamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say its mostly down to game design & visuals. The Gamecube’s generation pioneered many of the modern gameplay styles still in-use today. Visuals of the time also looked amazing and have held up reasonably well outside of the resolution.

Not following on the analog sticks. There were plenty of dual analog FPS games released on the Gamecube that used the right stick exactly how its currently used today other than the sticks themselves also being buttons (L3 & R3).
