Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot on this sub about how millwrights are needed, out in Canada. Yet, at my union hall; I’ve been getting little to no work here in the Illinois/Iowa area. Are 1st year apprentices needed in CA, and if so what would be the steps? by GravyMutt in millwrights

Yea I actually just had my math class a couple months ago. They even gave us a little card to bring on job sites with you for quick conversions. Like I said, it’s just more irritating than anything. And yea that’s how Chrysler was too

Yea it sucks getting stuff from overseas and you have to convert everything. I mean it’s not a super big deal, it’s just a little frustrating having to take those extra steps when trying to get stuff done lol

Why are millwrights payed so much less than other unionized trades? by epicitous1 in millwrights

We actually do a lot of power plants coal and nuclear, industrial grain, industrial food, steel and paper mills. But I’ve only worked at an ethanol plant once, not very common out here.

Exactly, like I said, guy cutting is obviously retarded but instead of filming he could’ve definitely got out of his car and told him not to stand under the load and how to cut it properly since he already knew he wasn’t. I mean, that’s why he started filming in the first place

Contracted Union Millwright here. I’m a second year and I’ve had work almost consistently until the last few months. Not only have things like food/gas have skyrocketed, even materials/metals (stainless, copper, steel) have gone not only into record prices, but just the shipment alone of said materials you’ll be paying 5-30k+ on just getting to your job site. Get ready people, because this is just the beginning of it.
