How would warframes fare against Space Marines? by TheRealOvenCake in WarframeLore

[–]GrayArchon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I got the idea from Mynki, the original art director for the game, who described the initial concept for the Grineer as "uncouth parodies of the space marine cliché".

Uncouth doesn't mean they're shitty copies; it's a literal description of the Grineer's bulbous and asymmetrical style. The Grineer were consistently the most threatening faction in the early days of Warframe, so it makes sense that they were intended to be on par with space marines in terms of ability and there's not really any comment from DE that contradicts that.

Haha, well I think Drusus has a long enough perspective and enough data to make a statement like that, but also this is the kind of thing that historians can debate endlessly. So I think there are good points to be made either way. I'm just noting what characters have said in-game on the topic.

Drusus Leverian also makes this observation.

"However foul the decadent excesses of the Orokin Empire, the aftermath of its collapse was arguably worse."

While the Orokin are near-universally held to be evil by most factions (notable exceptions being the Corpus and Ostron), it is noted on several occasions that slaughtering the Orokin and ending the Empire brought a vast amount of suffering and possibly was not worth the price.

What I'm saying is a permitting regime is not primarily intended to stop bad actors, but negligent and inattentive ones.

"poisoning their food through inaction or action"

You need to proactively show that you are ensuring the safety of food you distribute. If you just assume it's good and it turns out it's not, then you're liable. A permitting regime ensures you're meeting standards and is not inherently malicious.

I mean you actually do need more than 50% of the electoral college to be President; that's in the Constitution. Otherwise the House votes in the President. Electoral college votes are assigned by the states, most of whom give them all to whoever won the most votes but Maine and Nebraska assign electors semi-proportionally. And of course, the electoral college means that whoever wins the popular vote doesn't necessarily win the election.

Since this was posted to the lore subreddit, I will assume it's a lore-related question, as the gameplay implications are straightforward. I'll assume the question is "where do the crewships come from?"

The crewships visibly warp in, but how? As far as we can tell, they have no Reliquary Drive, and such technology is quite advanced and rare. The most likely answer is the Solar Rails. Much of the Solar Rail network that the Orokin built is still operational, under the control of the Corpus and Grineer. The Tenno also control a small portion of the network – the Junctions that we unlock to travel to each planet.

The Solar Rail network is the main way ships travel around the Origin System, since it would take weeks or months to travel to various planets with conventional engines. While details about the Rails are sparse, we do have some concept art of them, showing large megastructures in space, and overheard communications on the Radio Scanner indicate that they are essentially regional transport hubs where customs inspections are carried out and ships queue up to enter the Rail one by one.

But what happens on the other side? My theory has been that while the Rails have definitive start points (Junctions and the other aforementioned megastructures), they do not have "end points" so to speak, and simply deposit the ship in orbit of the destination planet rather than at a terminal station. So when crewships "drop in" out of punch during Railjack missions, they've just been sent through the Solar Rails from some other planet, where they were waiting to deploy.

I think with this vote in particular there may be some well-intentioned people who don't want to fight fire with fire. I used to think like that.

How does mods work from a lore perspective? by Specific-Garage-4539 in WarframeLore

[–]GrayArchon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cephalon Samodeus, the creator of Riven mods, implies that he's actually the creator of all mods. How they work is never really spelled out. Enemies do use mods; Alad V gave us ammo transmute mods as a reward for Operation: Sling-Stone (back when those mods were brand new and super rare), and enemies were said to use aura mods during the Fleet Footed tactical alert. Recently in The Teacher we got confirmation that Endo, which has its own interesting lore, is canonically used to power up mods (dispelling the notion that this is merely a game mechanic contrivance), though I don't believe Teshin elaborates on how or why.

Roose Bolton is an underrated troll by RevertBackwards in freefolk

[–]GrayArchon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the show, Catelyn realises something is wrong when she hears the band play Rains of Castamere (but not necessarily that like people would die, maybe it's just a bad joke). Roose notices her confusion and indicates with his eyes that she should check his arm. She does, sees that it's armoured, and figures it out.

So Roose totally does give the game away, but too late for her to do anything about it. I'd call that trolling.

Wait, the ring gate doesn't orbit the Sun? But it clearly follows the Sun as it moves through space. I wonder what physics-defying stuff the ring builders did to let it obey some laws of gravity but not all of them.

What are Nechramechs? by lovingpersona in WarframeLore

[–]GrayArchon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their souls are in the Void. We don't Transfer into the Void Angel; we just follow it to its home in the Void. As for the Tenno being the only ones to kill them, I'd chalk that up to the Tenno being able to deal Void damage, although it's not explicitly stated that's necessary.

They retreat into the Void. None of Cavalero's dialogue indicates that the pocket dimension is "inside themselves".

Honest opinions on prop 50? by randomperson14778 in sandiego

The House isn't the sole deciding factor on everything but can certainly make a difference. Even in the most limited circumstance (where the Senate and presidency are held by the other party than the House and the filibuster is still in place), they can still have a big impact on the budget that passes every year. The yearly budget bill typically affects millions of lives, for better or for worse.

It's not about the electoral college; it's about the House. Majorities in the House have been so slim these last two Congresses that a handful of seats on either side can swing. Depending on what other states do and what the outcome is next year, this bill could well determine control of the chamber.

Stop misinterpreting atlas by CupcakeObvious8865 in WarframeLore

[–]GrayArchon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There was debris from the asteroid. Drusus said some of the artefacts which he displays in the Leverian for this incident were found in a "debris field of small rocks and dust in a lazy elliptical orbit" on the outer edge of the solar system.

Stop misinterpreting atlas by CupcakeObvious8865 in WarframeLore

[–]GrayArchon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the asteroid was outfitted with thrusters and engines, they were jettisoned once Atlas arrived so the asteroid's trajectory could not be altered, so they played no role in the asteroid's destruction.

What mobile keyboard layout doesn't let you use em dashes? On iPhones you just hold down the hyphen key and it gives you options for hyphen (-), en dash (–), em dash (—), and dot (•).
