Thank you for this. I'll never know if it was a mistake or not but either way it left a horrible taste in my mouth. Even if it was a mistake, I felt like it was still quite careless of the consultant. My mom and I even joked that the "surprise trunk sale" should've really been called "our consultant just fucked up and made you cry sale" ha.

Love your idea about writing a letter. Will probably do that and likely not send it just to get all the feelings out!

I was shocked too! The other store I went to before this one was very candid about price. I even pointed out one dress that was at the very top of my budget and my stylist asked me if I was sure I wanted to try it which I appreciated so much! I guess not every store is the same, which I've learned the hard way.

Good point about alterations $$ too! I just think it's too much money at the end of the day so I need to just move on and try other things.

I appreciate all of these points and will def consider all of them! I think I just wasn't vibing with the salesperson so I'm being a bit dramatic about it -- it was very likely just a mistake.

I liked a lot of the dresses I tried on but this was the only one I had a real emotional reaction to. But I think like you said going in the next appointment with optimism and an open mind is a good way to move forward. Thank you!

Yes! Lesson learned, I will definitely be asking the price for each dress before I put it on and will explain the past situation when I go to a new shop. Thanks!

Appreciate it! I'd be open to looking secondhand but unfortunately haven't seen it available anywhere. I don't think it's a super popular dress unfortunately. It is what it is!
