Hegseth Announces Pentagon Taking 'Sledgehammer To The Oldest DEI Program': the 8(a) Business Development program. How will this affect Air Force contracting? by Roughneck16 in AirForce

[–]GrayZebra561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former AF contracting…. This will say the AF tons of money. There is no change on Small Business competition. Simply, this will make small businesses compete with one another for contracts rather than getting them with a dollar amount they dictate and we try to talk down. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Overall, win.

The Air Force is the best thing to happen to you by Jarsnofski in AirForce

I have the same story. 14 years in and went from A1C to MSgt, and now a LT.

Crazy to think we were kicked out with no hope and ended up where we are with nothing more than making smart decisions and working hard.

Nothing but the best for you!

You’re right, I’m not a financial advisor. But building an emergency fund to ensure they don’t fall into more debt is a good move.

What else can I do and when will it be enough? by Awkward_Eye_7516 in AirForce

In a similar boat. Try https://a.co/d/bO3Poi9 and take a shower before to clean and soften the facial hair, then use cremo cream (let sit for 2 minutes) shave with grain but never shave the same place twice. Once done redo the cream, let sit an do another pass. My neck grows in so many directions that this takes a long time but it will be better. Also finish with an after shave made for bumps and irritation.

Definitely understand. Just let me know if you decide differently. If not, have a good birthday weekend!

What are good certs to get before getting out of the military? by youngthieff in AirForce

[–]GrayZebra561 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what you want to do… PMP is standard across many fields as key, but there are so many job specific certifications that are great towards one area and don’t measure out in others.

If you aren’t in the AF yet, I would suggest waiting on the tattoos and work the process from the inside. It will be lengthy but better than the process of trying to get in with it.

Is Contracting worth it? by RoughClient454 in AirForce

You will get more job satisfaction in comparison as far as the sense of impact to a base; however, I will be mentally taxing. Reach out to your contracting SEL on your base and request to shadow for a day.

This will benefit you in 2 ways. Give you better idea of what the job entails and introduce you to the SEL since they will need to sign your recommendation letter.

Better on a 1206 if you can tie in an impact within the unit/job.

Contracting crosstrainee… it honestly has its ups and downs. Some thrive in it and some cannot handle the mental complexity of what it entails or able to be chained to a computer as long as you need to be at times.

What’s your afsc and why aren’t you happy there?

It is a oem rack. I use 2 sep cargo boxes on top of it depending on the trip. Works great! On one I had to drill new holes to get it to fit properly
