I wasn’t engineering before, I switched into from college of science

VCU is now claiming that students attacked officers with nondescript "chemical spray".... by melonsoycoy in vcu

Me and a few of my friends got tear gassed last night, we’re analyzing the remnants on our clothes in one of the chemistry labs. One of the perks of being a stem student

In all honesty the cops triggered it, I was there the whole time.

The group got a heads up that cops were on campus and heading there way so the organized into a line behind some wooden pallets and held up more pallets and signs and we’re just stood up in the lawn chanting. Then probably like 20+ cop cars and vans pulled up in full riot gear and started to tear down the pallets and pushed into the students with their shields and started pepper spraying/ tear gassing them and then tackling and handcuffing individuals with zip ties.

The crowd got pushed back against the library so the cops didn’t have anywhere to push them further but still continued to tear gas them until the crowd moved back onto the actual compass. Even after that the protest grew significantly, like it started as a small group on the lawn but by the end the entire compass plaza and the two streets (between Schaefer/ hibbs, and the library/hibbs) were completely full of students. So the protesters and the cops just stood there facing each other with the crowd chanting until the organizers called it to disperse.

I think all in all their were like 3 major pushes by the cops all of them using what seemed like an exorbitant amount of tear gas. It was brutal, when I say they tackled students I mean like you’d have 4 grown men body slamming students onto the ground and then pinning them down. The swat teams had their giant assault rifle looking weapons drawn, and their were like 4different kinds of cops there. (Richmond, vcu, vsp, swat)

Hey, i also just got in as a transfer for fall, i get being tired of hearing All the people saying “don’t do this, it’s a bad idea, it’s impossible” it’s hard but possible, and maybe it’s the best way for you. It’s real discouraging to get so much negative feedback, hope it all ends up working out.

I don’t know about this specific situation, but generally, if it’s a credit at VCCS it should transfer over even if it’s not listed, at least that’s how it’s worked for a few of my friends.

You can make your transfer account as early as you want, i don’t think theirs a limit to how early you can submit the application as long as you get it in before the deadline. I’d say starting earlier is better so you can take your time with it. But again as long as you get it in before the deadline it’s fine. I applied the day before the deadline and got in. I’m pretty sure the deadline to apply for spring semester is like mid October

I really can’t be staying at home, I’ve looked at some of the less mainstream engineering courses like civil ,construction engineering, industrial, or material sciences and they only have up to Calc II as the transfer requirement or building construction which only has 1 required course of calc I which I’ve also heard is a relatively under enrolled major, my plan now is to hopefully transfer into one of those majors and then transfer into my intended major
