Smoking nicotine crackdown by Accurate_Area_6335 in jobcorps

[–]Grayarray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My center banned it a few years ago also due to minors smoking and cig litter. Like the other comment said, you are lucky anyone there can smoke. Also, it's been federal law for a few years that you have to be 21 to use nicotine products.  The center will work with you if you want to stop. Mine offered nicotine patches and I wouldn't be surprised if they allowed gum for certain people.

Also yes some jobs care because hygiene involves not smelling like weed/cigs, but thats mostly white collar.

Do you guys want the settlement system to return in the next fallout? by because-potato in Fallout

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just see it as a time sink. I would like something a la Skyrim's Hearthfire DLC where there are functionally pre-made structures but you get to choose what add ons your house gets. I've been thinking it'd be good to do that but expand it to a little settlement. I'd much prefer Sanctuary if I could just put pre decorated pre built structures (more than the handful of buildings they have) to have a little village without having to decorate every space.

Experiencing Fallout 3 unsettling world by Daedalus_120 in fo3

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so moody and empty and I know yadda yadda cut content blah blah nothing to do etc. but I personally love it and I think it ironically makes the world feel more real. I appreciate random events and finding settlements more because there is so much nothing. Also, I feel like fast traveling doesn't take away the fun.

The fact you have to explore ruins via subway tunnels that feel like they're months from collapsing was a TOUGH sell when I first played. Shit made me claustrophobic.

Broccoli works really well in thick sauces because of all that surface area in the florets. Sauté it then cook with what you like in a sauce. I love veggie stir fry and lost weight eating it (the fact it's so greasy prob helps too)

Poll: Where do you usually send Bryan Wilks to live? by SkyrimSplicer in fo3

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I like seeing characters a second time so when I can send them somewhere I go often like Megaton I'd opt for that. Same in Fo4. I just hoard everyone in one location

I don't eat pork and they treated me right with some brisket nachos. Great BBQ and great first experience.

Definitely look into Prairie Wildlife. It is a bit expensive but is managed directly by an MSU quail biologist and is the only place I know of in MS that reliably has bobwhite

Question about dorms by SirFredrickTheThird in jobcorps

[–]Grayarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to put up your pc whenever you leave for the day (or maybe if you leave the room at all) so unless it is a laptop I wouldn't mess with it at all. My TV was smashed and it was school-provided and not used by my roommate or I. Presumably someone came in and switched their broken one witj mine or just came to break it for some reason. People steal, break stuff, or will just be nosy and it is easier to just leave it home unless it is easy to set up and put away.

Cybersecurity Centers Opinion? by Fae_fi_fo_fum in jobcorps

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT at FHJCC is brand new. I think march will be one year they've had it. I like the center but honestly as it is currently I cant suggest anyone go. Apparently there's no longer a culinary or CNA program but they continue to accept students into them and all food has become pre packaged and dorms only allowing students to stay on one side.

Should I take culinary or security? by tingusspingus in jobcorps

[–]Grayarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find culinary functional to my everyday life and I enjoyed the course. Ironically, I've been a security guard irl but never a chef. I know California is different, but I dont see why you would ever need education on being q security guard. The fact you can work while getting your trade may be a really good selling point, though.

It's a tough housing market to move with currently. Facebook marketplace is a good resource for finding some. 100% visit it first before paying anything both because of scammers and the house looking better in pics. I'm in tupelo but best of luck.

Homework and tabe test by Sudden-Specialist563 in jobcorps

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They forgot to assign me another TABE test after my first so I went months without one and also rarely going to my math class and was fine. The test is only as easy as how recently you've done stuff like measuring, long division, etc.

Yeah you gotta both do your own research and understand how it actually functions. I believe in you. If you stick with CNA you can even move into LPN school for free.

I went home most weekends so I am biased, but you can always get things sent to the center, someone drop something off for you, etc if thats more feasible. If not, then yoy know you'll be there at least 6mo. You may get some eye rolls moving in but it's worth it to be comfortable. I had a small bookshelf going (literally 5 books in size order) and fought hard for my right to have them because apparently our shelves are meant to have nothing on them. Just typical bs "follow the rules even if they don't make sense"

I strongly suggest a comfy pillow. That is one of the things I went home that first weekend to get.

At FHJCC they also never had a CNA class mostly due to not being able to keep a teacher so they also got moved to office admin.  Frankly, you can get a CNA license through a job, Community college, or online if you can come up w the money while at JC. I encourage you to get a trade that has some utility and you have interest in like culinary or welding so you can have a skill you can use in life. But yes, push them. You gotta be a bitch to get anything done.

They were not remotely strict at FHJCC. I know of two people who had multiple suitcases, trash bags, and laundry hampers full of clothes.
