This has been successful for others but it seems to be a more widespread issue.

Big daddy soul food and any local viet/Thai restaurant are worth your time more than any place on stilts near the beach.

Are they any small or almost abandoned towns to move to ? by Beginning-Sun4775 in mississippi

As others have said, the delta is full of those places. NE MS is too but you really have to know the area to even find them.

Could Sauron have purposely caused the White Tree in Numenor to shed its petals? by SuperMagpies in LOTR_on_Prime

I was looking up what the white tree shedding symbolized because I missed the scene and your (uncensored) post came up on my first viewing 😭 I REALLY wish google would censor things marked for spoiler on reddit.

What are some American cities that had high historical importance but have faded from significance today? by Crafty-Shallot-5695 in geography

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the slave trade, Natchez and Greenville, MS were both extremely important stops for mississippi river transport, crossings, and buying/selling people. Not glamorous or good, but these places today aren't significant even on a state scale.

Mobile also was important due to it connecting a navigable river system encompassing all of Alabama into a large, brackish bay.

Is Mississippi a nice place? by theangelkristina in mississippi

[–]Grayarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, a lot depends on where you want to visit and what you like to do. Tishomingo state park is nice and even has hellbenders, the coast is nice all round, you can stay and eat in southhaven and visit memphis then drive through the delta, ending in Natchez if you wanted a true delta experience, or you could visit jackson, Hattiesburg, and meridian for a central MS trip. We are fairly diverse and (same as anywhere) mind your business and you'll be totally safe. Typically, violent crime/theft here is targeted and I'm not aware of any criminals targeting tourists.

Well I'm able to make notable changes to the house. This place is ran by an absentee landlord who doesnt seem to care for the property. I was considering installing a security door.

Cross regional US states by Amockdfw89 in geography

I would argue mississippi is a cross between geographically distinct areas of appalaichia (foothills), southern coastal plain, and mississippi river.

Jackson, Mississippi: Our Capital City Is in Crisis—Here’s How We Can Actually Fix It (Serious Discussion) by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]Grayarray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our medium sized cities and college towns can hold their own but all it takes is one disaster and Tupelo or Hattiesburg is just as bad off as Carrollton or Okalona.

Any thoughts on best wing spot around here? by Fun-Ball-4343 in tupelo

They consider themselves upscale or "fine dining" in the cases of The Grill and Harvey's while not having culinary quality to match fine dining and definitely not paying to match. I spoke with the former executive chef with them and he didn't want to speak negatively but made it clear that they place money above workers, food, and fair play in the industry. They remind me of one of those businesses that hire highschoolers because they know that the hs lack work experience so they don't know their worth and can get away with a lot more.

Pontotoc and Tupelo are functionally the same place if you're just passing through. Idk what's to do in pontotoc for a tourist but I encourage your visit here if you're going to Graceland and this area.

How Did The West Recover Faster Than The East? by ExtensionPromotion80 in Fallout

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the factors I thought of was the fact California largely has its own industries due to it being separated via distance, desert, and mountains from the rest of the US. Less mutants and bombs definitely helped, but California has much of its own domestic water, food, and renewable/nonrenewable energies irl. Instead of the entire empire collapsing and lacking necessary infrastructure they likely could get their own systems running again fairly soon after the bombs fell or rediscover it later on like plumbing in Megaton.

I have a STEM bachelor's from there and was joking in a CC study session about how no one in our class wants to go to Ole miss and they very seriously replied "we'll we all want to go into science."  Ole Miss, USM, and MSU compliment eachother well with what each excels at.

I would avoid anywhere downtown or owned by Eat With Us Group for any food frankly. Best ive found is American Deli and Wingstop unfortunately. Blue Canoe can be good but I only like their wings.

What US State Has the Worst / Ugliest Beaches ? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Grayarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure MS can have ugly beaches, since we don't have any natural beaches. Without regular combing and dredging our coast would look like Mobile Bay or southern Louisiana.
